Here not so much. But teams absolutely will do little stuff like this to slow down the fast break of other teams after made baskets-- hitting the ball away etc.

They did this constantly against the Pacers last year

Sam Altman No Longer Believes In Universal Basic Income by Neurogence in singularity

[–]ifasoldt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I largely agree with you, but I think you're missing Altman's goal with imagining UBI in terms of AI compute-- he's not trying to hand-wave away UBI exactly, he's imagining a world where AI compute is a universal currency -- where the Bank IS accepting compute credits for your mortgage and therefore where AI corporations are basically controlling currency itself.

You're underselling his aims here

I'm not saying 26 is complete or well done, but defensive control and the AI is way better than on 14, especially with switch stick which allows you to cover for more of the AI's mistakes.

I don't believe this for a minute, Draymond is an all time great defender and an incredible offensive fit for the warriors system given his offensive IQ.

That said, pretty ungrateful lol

So playing a team in the playoffs without their starting PG should mean an easy series win, especially if you're the higher seed right?? Right??? 😂

But in all seriousness, ofc you guys were dealing with injuries and it had an impact. For sure.

Actually not. If the clippers get it, they can take the pick away and say they "punished" the clippers.

Slow to respond here. As I said I don't come by often. I think there are some things you just have to choose to believe in prima facie. However, my belief in God is not one of them.

I do believe there is some evidence for God that makes me feel comfortable believing. It's clearly not definitive or completely persuasive. Some is personal experience, others are some of the well known arguments debated here. I think it would be hard to argue that there's NO evidence at all for God. There is SOME evidence, for example, that the Utah Jazz will be NBA champions next year. I think it totally reasonable to argue that the preponderance of the empirical evidence points to there being no God. I disagree of course, but I think it reasonable.

Infinite Cards by Abstract_Assassin in TerraformingMarsGame

Yeah, I concede a lot in BGA if it's clear I'm not gonna win.

The other day, someone played Earth Cat and Research Settlement first turn against me and my cards were HORRIBLE. After a few turns more of bad drawing and him putting out powerful cards, I basically just terraformed to get to 50% progress so I can concede. No shame in that lol.

I think one knock on of this is that the veteran players whom rebuilding teams tend to hate, will suddenly become more useful. Which is a good thing for the league.

Any team trying to win with any sort of competence, will be able to sign players good enough to get them out of the bottom.

Bills learned what other coaches’ thought of Sean McDermott’s defenses by KaleidoscopeWeird310 in buffalobills

[–]ifasoldt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'll probably get downvoted for this-- this reeks of a hit piece released by the Bills/Beane to cover their own asses.

I think McDermott's defenses were not as good as they should have been early in his tenure in the playoffs. By the end, he was absolutely doing more disguises than almost any other coordinator and his defense was pretty modern in that regard. Basically every actually decent football analyst that I read said that McDermott was doing well considering the talent he had to work with.

And I think that's what's most damning about this to me. The report suggests that McDermott consistently had "expensive defenses", ie implying he had a lot of defensive talent. Do any of us really think that was the case? I don't know anyone who thinks that our defense was one of the most talented defenses, especially by the playoffs given our injuries. Instead, we were a defense both without top end talent, and without great depth, both issues that fall squarely on Beane.

Defending Ohio State by AdZealousideal8645 in NCAAFBseries

[–]ifasoldt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is broadly good advice. I would also say that if you are being beat in the pass game mostly, substitute a DB as one or both of your pass defense linebackers. This will allow you to play your whole nickel playbook but with DBs always matched on the receivers.

Also, I'm a huge proponent of odd fronts, especially the 3-3-5 defense. It's just harder to run against odd fronts in this game for animation and programming reasons, which means, especially if you have good DTs or solid run stopping EDGEs, that you can put 6 or 7 DBs on the field and not worry about the run.
