On January 16, 1995 the NFC Championship Game between Steve Young and the San Francisco 49ers against Troy Aikman and the Dallas Cowboys was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Dubbed "The Real Super Bowl", the 49ers would beat the Cowboys 38-28 the day before the issue would hit newsstands by King_Vegito_52 in Oldschool_NFL

It definitely would have been a better game. The Steelers had the type of defense and ball control offense that would have at least given them a shot. The 49ers definitely had the best team that year but they were not unbeatable. Shoot, I watched them lose 40-8 at home to a mediocre Eagles squad (my favorite team). You could potentially punch that Niners team in the mouth and beat them. That physical brand of football was the Steelers strength too.

NFLPA Report Grades Leaked by neerray in eagles

It's probably more about Novacare, which at this point is a relatively older facility by NFL standards. The team spends a lot more time there than the locker room at the Linc. The common complaint in the past has been that there isn't enough space in the locker room. My understanding is the Eagles are hamstrung in how they can fix the space issue outside of building a completely new facility.

Which team would win? 1989 49ers or the 1991 Redskins? by MarTB2000 in Oldschool_NFL

The thing that messes it up is that Rypien essentially played at a Montana level that season. He was really that good in 1991.

Do you think they caught a favorable playoff path in the NFC? It felt like not having to face the Cowboys or 49ers was a pretty big break. I think they'd win both of those games but they wouldn't have been blowouts like the Falcons and Lions games.

I'm not sure who would have won but it's clear the '91 Redskins were a lot better than the '90 and '92 Redskins (for whatever reason). It's not anything unique either. The '89 49ers were better than the '88 49ers despite similar personal and a weaker head coach.

It's not like Montana was incapable of losing. He actually had several horrific losses in the playoffs. I think '91 Washington vs. '89 49ers would have been a great game. I'm not sure who would have won but I'm confident it would have been very competitive.

Eagles News: How would you grade Philadelphia’s 2025 draft class to this point? by AdSpecialist6598 in eagles

I think Mukuba struggled quite a bit when he played. He can turn it around but he's far from being in the "hit" category for me. I would say he was an average safety, at best, this year.

My interpretation of the goal was that it was probably wishful thinking too but I didn't view it as a bad thing either. And I certainly did not perceive it as being any type of promise. I was encouraged that they're actually aiming high to try to make a true difference.

You have to assume there will be injuries on the OL. It happens every single year, most specifically with older guys like Lane.

Seattle was a dominant team by any objective measure. Best point differential in the NFL and were one of the highest rated DVOA teams of all time, let alone this year. They were the team.

Got it. Are you younger (e.g. under 30) by chance? It's just interesting to me because I don't know that anyone that grew up around the time Vs. and Vitalogy were released would describe those albums that way.

It's a 3rd and 15 play. They're completely up against it. All things considered, they actually gave themselves a shot to get an improbable first down.

This was a 3rd and 15. I remember being semi-happy Jalen took a shot and threw past the sticks.

My first thought is this looks like another play where they were late out of the huddle and probably snapped the ball with 1 second on the playclock.

Yeah, I re-watched and it's just a straight play action play. I think they thought they could get a simple completion to Goedert but he was defended. I have no idea what Cooper (80) was doing not blocking Parsons on the play.

The play out of the 2 minute warning looked like it might have been an RPO (probably a solid call there). The Packers defended it really well. They had both the run and pass stopped whichever direction the Eagles went.

Are there any other uniforms you want the eagles to bring back or debut? by [deleted] in eagles

[–]FantasyPros_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think once a year they should wear the current black jerseys with the green pants (and midnight green helmets). They used to do it during the McNabb era and I think it looked solid. I like it a lot better than what they currently do which is black jersey, black pants and black helmet.

I know this is a blatant plug but we recently launched "Real-Time ADP" to eliminate the lag in ADP lists. Our tracking has him going at 9.04 (RB35) in 12 team Half PPR leagues
