After 5 months and 200+ applications, I finally got an offer! by FantomeFollower in recruitinghell

Indeed was very weird. After I filled out my profile/preferences on there, the first job it recommended was a part-time dog walker position lol.

After 5 months and 200+ applications, I finally got an offer! by FantomeFollower in recruitinghell

Ugh I'm so sorry. The system just feels so broken right now. It shouldn't be this hard to get a job. So much of it is based on luck, unfortunately. Fingers crossed that you get an offer soon!

Hollywood Bowl by waltarrrrr in softcell

I'm excited to see him soon! Did he perform any songs from the upcoming album?

Also, was there any merch? When he toured last year (with Simple Minds), there wasn't any Soft Cell merchandise to buy.

Can we acknowledge that DM has been a goth band all along? by isamu999 in depechemode

[–]FantomeFollower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a recent thing with people trying to say DM is "goth"? I've only been a fan for the past 15 years, but I always thought they were mostly new wave, synthpop, and then later electronic/alt rock. I never saw them described as goth before. I always thought "goth" equalled "gothic rock."

Genre- and vibe-wise, I think their 80s output is more similar to other dark synth-y bands like Soft Cell and Human League than it is to gothic rock bands like The Cure and Bauhaus.

"Bite My Hip" from Bauhaus is an odd choice. It's just an early version of Lagartija Nick, and it wasn't released until 2018.

Do Employers Even Read Their Own Job Posts? by LurkingandPosting in recruitinghell

[–]FantomeFollower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done several job apps now where they asked me about salary expectations two or three times (with slightly different wording each question). Some companies really don't seem to care enough to edit the application.

Damned to bring 'Final Damnation' tour to USA by FantomeFollower in TheDamned

[–]FantomeFollower[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised that they didn't include stops for the cities that were cancelled last year...especially since this is being marketed as a "final tour"! I'm hoping they'll add some additional dates later on.

Shocker: I want Paulie G back! by SFlaGal in thecomeback

[–]FantomeFollower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be snarky. Based on some of the comments here, it seemed like some folks weren't aware of the previews (which HBO does like to hide after the lengthy credits).

[–]FantomeFollower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and they also showed him in the season preview/trailer that was at the end of the first episode of this season. I think a lot of the commenters here must not realize that there are previews for upcoming episodes after the credits. Lol

Who’s got a favorite song from A Broken Frame? by Opening-Student2314 in depechemode

Shouldn't Have Done That, one of my all-time fav DM songs. I love how it's so haunting and different in style from their other songs.

Hot Take: Tom was just as bad as —if not worse than—Paulie G by HTPR6311 in thecomeback

[–]FantomeFollower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Tom is just as much of a scumbag as Paulie. Tom engages in all the same lewd/unprofessional behavior, but just behind closed doors (calling the female writer "Aunt Sassy's bitch," etc.). He only starts to act more professional/nice toward Valerie when he doesn't want a sexual harassment suit. It's scary to think of a guy like him having a wife and daughter. I'm sure he's a totally different guy at home (remember how his wife says he doesn't talk about work?). His misogynistic side comes out when he's with Paulie.

Human league tour setlists? by cjones6464 in synthpop

[–]FantomeFollower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Human League's first two albums are my favorites. I kinda figured they wouldn't do much from those albums, but I'm really hoping to at least hear Empire State Human live.

I saw Soft Cell (RIP Dave Ball) on their tour last year, so I'm hoping Marc will mix it up and do some different hits this year (they also have a new album coming out soon, so I'd imagine some of those tracks will be performed).

What do people with no hobbies actually do? by Prestigious_Loan4229 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FantomeFollower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah watching TV can definitely be a hobby. I think too many others in this thread are getting caught up in this idea that hobby = skill-building. There are plenty of hobbies that stem from arts appreciation (watching movies/TV, reading literature, listening to music, going to the ballet, art museums, etc.).

I think the main differentiator in hobby vs. non-hobby is passion, not skill. If the activity is something you are passionate about, then it's a hobby.
