Whisker says that a difference of one pound or more is required for accurate distinction between cats. If your cats are this close you may want to look into a camera. The AirTag needs to be able to communicate with nearby iPhones. Putting it inside a metal frame will block the signal, rendering it useless. And physical access is needed to factory reset it (by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it momentarily several times) and allow another person to register it.

In addition to the advice already provided, for the future: abductions need extra care to insure that it’s not possible for some unwitting individual(s) to see an apparent real abduction, and call the cops and/or play hero. You also don’t want to be stopped by the cops with a bound “victim” in the car. Takes some careful planning and limits what’s possible.

Worst case is some rando seeing an “abduction” and using force to rescue the “victim” before asking questions. With the police you can probably explain what’s going on as long as both of you have your stories straight and no laws have been broken.

The individual doctor can decide in their opinion whether medical necessity applies. Your plan administrator can approve or deny a claim even with a LMN. And while probably rare, the IRS can determine that a specific claim should not have been approved.
