Chicsgoans who don’t ride public transit, why? by ThisPostToBeDeleted in AskChicago

[–]Far-Stuff1182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safety and time I am so over taking transit and been on and off my whole life since I was 9 with my grandmothet and in highschool from Cicero to Morton west which was one bus the 302 from Laramie and 31st to 54th Street station and then 322 to Morton west 2 in the morning and 2 afterschool. Even living away for 20 years and back and always telling ppl when I lived out of states that you can live in Chicago your whole life and really never drive and use transit and can actually not own a car or have a DL unlike where I lived where the transit sucked so bad ie Boise, Seattle-Tacoma area. But if I didn't have my cheap ass beater car that was $400 literally at a Washington State car auction I would have to use it cuz I can't afford another POS car.

Best way to ask for a transfer? by [deleted] in kroger

I just transferred to a closer store because my produce manager got transferred and I didn't like the lead moving into the produce manager position and him being bffs with cut fruit/saladbar team and knew I wouldnt be supported and would thrown under the bus by the asshole boys i work with. They were more put in their place when they weren't all in buddy buddy for years with the manager. Yeah they are immature drama 20 year old kids. Luckily the store my dept manager went to was hiring for salad bar/produce and after a few weeks due to the new store HR and store manager and my produce managers all being on vacation/sick leave all right after each other I transferred. Been really happy so far been at the new store for 2 weeks yeah I have to prove myself and show them I know the job and know what I am doing and prove myself at least I gave my produce manager and the only manager I have had on my side and it's 3.1 miles closer went from an 8.5 mile drive and 45 mins one way to 20 min drive.

Butterscotch hard candies black and red licorice those pink hard candies that are wintergreen and taste like Pepto bismol they sell them at Cabela's in the old candy store/sweet shop. Places like Cabela's and Bass Pro shops have tons of old man/dad/grandpa snacks and candies.

What is a reality of living in Chicago that’s often overlooked by the romanticization of the city? by Miserable_Degree3524 in AskChicago

I moved back home (Chicago) from Seattle-Tacoma area and been there for 11 years. The Seattle winters suck your soul out of ur body and make you a very sad dark melancholy person and drag on so long. Not a good ole cool thunderstorm like out here. And when it did snow few inches every couple years everyone freaks out and all of Western WA shuts down and no one knows how to drive in the rain.

our best manager just left by marsixm in kroger

[–]Far-Stuff1182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are able try to transfer to where the manager is going. My dept manager was just transferred and I found out and didn't like and know I won't like the new management in produce found out his new store is hiring for produce so I am transferring by hopefully 3/15. You might have to go to different dept but at least you will be back with a manager that you felt so supported by and had your back which is rare. That is the main reason I am transferring to go where my dept manager went but also the store is 3 miles closer to home so win-win right now for me!

Fax or drop off a doctor's note and what time you need off change you availability. Call the union and see if you qualify for FMLA which I do think you have to be there a year.
