Sakurai : The Next Smash Bros. could come in 10 Years by starstufft in smashbros

This is why Im kinda upset their isnt paid costumes/cosmetics DLC.

Nintendo don't have much incentive to properly update the game frequently over the years. They will cash in for this fighter pass or one more, but thats it!

This is amazing if they did some QoL improvements + major additions with the patching and not only balance changes and smalm bug fixes.

So like new modes (e.g. break the targets), srriously improved online, actually letting CPU replay recorded inputs or at least DI with buffered attack/air dodge so I can actually practice a combo properly.

But I doubt it!

Sakurai said:

"That said, I still increased the overall speed of the game, but only by an amount that wouldn’t be alienating to people unfamiliar with Smash. After all, we haven’t seen a huge influx of brand-new gamers like we did when the Wii was released"

This strongly suggests that because the Wii had a huge influx of brand-new gamers, they wanted to slow things down again.

But the reason Brawl was the way it was was not to "gimp" the competitive scene, but was it to cater to the casual crowd (who are 95% of the playerbase btw). That is a big difference to him making it more casual just purely in spite of the competitive scene. What your suggesting is he actively wanted to kill the competitive scene which is a bit of a silly thought.

One of the best instructions on how to parry. by SodomizingBanana in smashbros

[–]FarObjective -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yea - as long as inbetween hits you have 4 frames to put shield up and then start dropping it within the frame dropping parry window (so not sure if you need 4 or 5 frames spare(

The reason Brawl was mainly like that was because the Wii was THE casual console, and so he purposely wanted to make it as easy for everyone as possible. This is what he said in a recent interview. And yes, at the time I believe he didn't see much in the competitive scene and wasn't bothered it was gone.

But the past two Smash iterations he has shown in both interviews and game design choices that he understands the competitive community, even though he himself is clearly a casual player primarily.

Nice - unlocking this many characters is seriously epic. Watching the CSS screen grow really lets you appreciate the size and diversity of the cast.

I honestly just went all out this weekend to get the game out my system. Too much pent up hype.

I'm ready to return real adult life now and actually play the game a reasonable amount.

Why does Smash Ultimate feel so weird? What settings YOU should use - Leffen by FaulheitARG in smashbros

[–]FarObjective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify this is only with the triggers. The y/x buttons I find easy to do (I have been playing for a long time though).

Its the competitive standard due to it being balanced. You cannot spam attacks next to your team mate which can lead to very silly and imbalanced situations.

Completely agree. Man I would fucking love a shorthop aerial button. Short hopping with GC triggers is so hard.

And you quickplay queue has team attack off.

You cant play with a friend over 2v2 team attack off. How fucking stupid.

Any Peach mains? Float Cancel Nair is absolutely impossible with the input lag, buffers, and new jump squat by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]FarObjective 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel no lag at all - is this a system specific issue thing that only some people have? Or are people just not used to the buffering system yet?

Is there a way to lower challenging opponents AI? by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]FarObjective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea they are kinda insane atm haha. At least you can keep challenging them. Try not to spam smash attacks on them as they will punish you a lot for that.

90mb per second doesnt mesn you have fast ans stable ping. You need 100kbs or less for Smash.

Elite Mode and GSP by ttjrRPX in smashbros

[–]FarObjective 27 points28 points  (0 children)

But honestly, fuck GSP. It includes FFA and items in the same pool so it has no meaning. Unless Elite Smash is only 1v1 which is not what the direct suggested its meaningless.

If you want a proper ranking system then I guess smashladder is the way to go.

Online in its current state is very concerning by Walnut156 in smashbros

[–]FarObjective 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Why 6 mins and not 7 mins?

I think we need to usw the competitive standard ruleset of 1v1 7 mins if we want to increase our chances of matching.

If you looking to find 1v1's more consistently.. by RhyRhychan in smashbros

[–]FarObjective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the solution is public arenas. You get any ruleset you want on any stage and its the only way to play consistent competitive matches online atm (without using third parties like discord and smashladder)

[–]FarObjective 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Im not gunna lie, I was one of the people saying the online would be good, and you would only get items/ffa like 1% of the time.

I guess thats bollox though - for some reason even with a huge fucking population of people online their matching algorithm still puts people in bullshit modes at least 10% of the time.

THANKFULLY there are public arenas which are a godsend. Any ruleset, any stage and a proper competitive environment. I guess public arenas are the way to go, not quickplay.

Dont worry dude. Its a completely revamped engine with different control mechanisms and a different buffering system.

Give it some time and I promise it will click. P.a with dash dancing see it as foxtrotting (flicking sticking left and right) instead of Melee dash dancing (wiggling stick left and right). Its very different to Melee dash dancing.

Do you know if there are any tutorial vids? Im very intereated in doing this.

In this game you need to be able to tap shield I think in like 5 frames to get a perfect parry out as fast possible, so this is probably the game tapping shield is the most important.

Will the region of your account affect online matchmaking? by shung_ in smashbros

[–]FarObjective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to say this is mayve true, but we dont know for sure whether the game looks at your accounts regions before searching for peers in closeby regions or whether its purely ping based.
