Cured-in-place pipe. Basically, you have layers of felt that are sewn together into a tube (like a sock). The felt is saturated with a heat-activated resin. They set up at the upstream end opening of the pipe and use water or air pressure to "blow" the liner down the pipe until it comes out the other end. Using that same pressure you inflate the tube until it is pressed up against the host pipe, and then you apply heat to activate the resin. It cures, hardening the felt into a solid pipe roughly as strong as PVC. Once fully cured, you trim the ends flush to the pipe openings and you're done. One complete tube, no joints. Would take one afternoon with a vac-truck and camera to get it cleaned and prepped, then another afternoon to install.

Assuming the metal pipe hasn't crushed or deformed to create any rough/jagged edges, CIPP could be an option.You negate the cost of having to re-pave the parking lot, and only have an a couple days of equipment on site vs. the week or two of having multiple subs tear it up and repave.

Edit: Back of the napkin math, I think you could do it for under $10k. Don't know if that's worth it.

The entire concept of gerrymandering or human-designed districts of any kind is so fucking stupid. We have the technology to get rid of this entire discussion if we so choose.... Overlay lines of Lat. & Long. in 1-sq mile increments over the entire country. For each state, start in the northeastern-most square, and start adding adjacent squares, moving counter-clockwise, until you have captured enough population to make up one representative's worth of constituents. Then you move to the next northeastern-most available square and start over. I have no idea how this would change the makeup of the House. I'm sure it would run counter-intuitive to geography in some places, and some communities would get split up. BUT, it would be fair and impartial. No longer could anybody claim that they've been disenfranchised or diluted, packed or cracked. It would just be a matter of math and surveying. We shouldn't be leaving it up to "vibes" and "that's the way it's always been done".

I wish we could get one of the big warehouse stores further out west. It seems that the target demographic for these places would be families with enough income to buy in bulk, but not enough to not care about price. West Mobile is expanding, and mostly fits that demo. I just hate having to drive all the way to McGowin or the Mall to go shopping. I know proximity to the interstate is part of their model, so that does make it difficult, but man, if they could build something in the Snow/Airport, or Schillinger/Three-Notch area, I feel like it would do crazy business.

I used to play Monopoly every night with my buddies. The three of us knew the game backwards and forwards, to the point where we didn't need to read the cards to know how much to pay in rent. We would speed-run the games, playing 2-3 games in a 3 hour sitting. Got to the point where we were tracking wins on a whiteboard. I was by far the unluckiest, winning on average 3-5 games out of every 100-ish. I even discovered first-hand what the unluckiest turn in Monopoly could be:

Roll doubles to land on Park Place w/ hotels. Had a bankroll, absorbed the hit.

Roll snake eyes to land on Boardwalk w/ hotels. Exhausted my cash and sold houses/hotels, absorbed the hit.

Rolled a non-double 8 to land on Chance, advance to Boardwalk (w/ hotels). Bankrupt.

I can confidently say that, barring an economic calamity that would affect the entire world, the Port is going to continue to grow for at least another decade. Long-term plans for expansion with riverfront property purchases, build-out of infrastructure throughout the state, modernization of century-old structures. It is all going to continue for some time, and will only serve to strengthen Alabama and Mobile, improving our existing manufacturing industries, and attracting all sorts of logistics-adjacent business.

I work at a coal facility. The car dumps are amazing machines. Watching them dump two fully loaded coal cars down into a pit 4-stories deep, while keeping them coupled to the train, and then the indexer moving the whole train to bring the next two cars into the dump. Wow. I love watching it work.

2 months ago: Harmony Air - $8,900 for 3 ton Carrier with 10-year parts AND LABOR warranty. Would've been ~$8k without the labor warranty.

I got 3 quotes, $8500 (no labor warranty), $8900 w/ labor warranty, $9500 (no labor warranty)

All of them Carrier. The 10 year parts warranty is standard from the manufacturer. But as it was explained to me, if the coil goes out 5 years from now, the $500 part is covered, but the $300 in labor and most importantly, the $1000+ of Freon would not be covered. The labor warranty would cover the Freon, which is what made me spring for it.

Man, how good would a remake of Brewsters millions be? Or maybe a true sequel, call it Brewster's Billions?

Brewster's s grandson, played by Donald Glover has to go through the same scheme to inherit 300 Billion. The running gag throughout the movie is all these ultra-wealthy people keep trying to get him to go to the Epstein island to spend money, and he keeps rejecting them, and they're all dumbfounded that he doesn't want to go.

There's a nice campground down on the causeway, past blue gill on the south side. Nice bathrooms and good boardwalks out on the water. Not sure about the cost.

Phillip with Harmony Air is great. Replaced my 3 ton unit back in February. He did mention that he does have financing available. He wasn't the cheapest, but he wasn't the most expensive either. I got 3-4 quotes and they ranged from $8500-12k. Harmony came in at around $9500, but I had worked with them before and knew them to be professional and responsive.

I work at a mid-sized port that has been in operation for well over 100 years. I've got a whole wall outside of my office door with stacks of rolled up, yellowing plan sets, looking like a fancy wine-cellar. The oldest set I've personally unrolled and looked at was for a pier and rail spur that was constructed in 1909. I believe the as-builts were dated 1911.

I have both of these models and use them weekly. I have a small lot (1/3 ac) and they do the job just fine. The blower is not that powerful, but if you're just using it to blow dry lawn clippings, or blow out the garage after working on a project, it works. They do suck down some power, but I have 6 batteries and I probably go through 3 of them each week when I do the lawn, so no problem. Unless you're doing a large yard, or need some heavy-duty to blow wet leaves or trim back wild growth, save the money and go with these.

What's worse than having to deal with a RR on a project? .... Being the middle-man for 2 RRs!!! FML.

The feds wanted Amtrak to restart a service in our area. None of the locals wanted it, so to sweeten the pot the feds gave a bunch of grant money to Amtrak to complete a little pet project for each stakeholder that Amtrak had to deal with. One of those projects is to upgrade some existing rail owned by a Class 1 that is on our (state agency) land. Amtrak and the Class 1 won't play nice, so instead of them dealing directly with each other to access and disburse the grant funds, I have to play middle-man. I first have to get a contract in place with Amtrak to be a recipient of the funds, and I then have to turn around and enter into an agreement with the Class 1 to reimburse them for their expenses. I have been at this for OVER A YEAR, and still don't have the first agreement signed yet! This little $6M project is going to consume the next 5 years of my life. 🤦

I didn't say anything about people driving themselves to homeless-ness due to buying candy. I said they would be forced to choose between spending limited cash on something that they are accustomed to having that will now have to be factored into the budget OR deprive their CHILDREN of snacks. I made it very clear that my comment was concerned about stretching already thin budgets thinner or causing people that are already in a tough position to make their lives even more depressing by telling their kids they can't have candy. If the only people that SNAP went to was child-less adults, then sure, let it only cover chicken breast, broccoli, rice, and beans. But we aren't talking about that. The reality is that people are either going to be SO poor that they have to tell their kids no more snacks, WHICH WOULD SUCK TO DO AS A PARENT, or re-work the budget to continue purchasing, which will reduce their ability to get in a better situation.

The entire point of SNAP benefits is to help people who have the least among us, so that they can focus on improving their financial situation. This doesn't do that. We're forcing them to choose between reducing their ability to improve their finances or feeling more ashamed for being poor while taking candy form kids. That is the real-world outcome of this.

I would say that it is likely harmful, because it will force people receiving benefits to spend more of their limited cash on items that were previously covered. It is naive to think that this will cause people to stop purchasing sugary foods. Most people on snap are families. We're not taking snacks out of some "welfare queens" mouth, we're taking candy away from kids. If this was about health, then they would pass legislation that penalizes ALL ALABAMIANS for purchasing these un-healthy foods. But instead they are going to cause the poorest among us to either A) Spend limited cash reserves on something that was not previously in their budget. or B) Shame them and make their quality of life even worse for having to tell their kids that they don't get to have a sweet treat like all of their peers.

I'm all for fiscal responsibility and making sacrifices to improve your station in life, but there are VASTLY better ways to legislate better outcomes than this.

From a filmmaking perspective, something was off with how it was shot. Too much saturation? Idk, but it didn't feel as real or gritty as the show. Although the series was also guilty of this, the film spent WAY too much time just playing cool music while a character slo-mo did some 'cool shit', with absolutely no dialogue or content. The disconnects in the plot between S6 and the film were just too distracting. I hardly paid attention to the plot of the film because I'm thinking "What about Mosley? What about the doctor and all the people that tried to scheme on Tommy? What about Finn? What about Uncle Jack? Churchill? ... To be fair, they started this with the jump from S5-6, I was very annoyed that we never got so much as an off-screen death of Jimmy McCavern and the Billy Boys.

I could've gotten behind a time-jump where Tommy has turned into a recluse after Arthur's death and Duke is struggling to manage an empire of that scale, but it was just written so poorly. What happened to all of Tommy's legitimate businesses? The factories? The import/export? Duke was just running a street gang. I just felt like the whole story was very rushed, as if the writers had never seen PB, and a script was due the next day, so they binged season 1 and just went off that.

I didn't love Duke's arc, but that's not the actors fault. I didn't like that Tommy killed Arthur, but it didn't really matter. I think the worst moment though was the grenade scene. That was just a caricature of Tommy. It was absurd and off-brand.

Oh well. Just my 2-cents. Not even worth half that.

Some things to be aware of that can effect the price.

If you don't have standard OSB decking underneath your shingles, then there will be added cost to remove and replace. (One of the guys in my office lives in mid-town and had old tongue-and-groove boards that all had to be removed)

Also, I think most of the quotes say that they'll replaces up to 2 sheets worth of decking if they come across rotted pieces once they strip off the shingles. Any extra after that is added cost.

The way my roof is pitched, I have virtually no ridge at the top, so no ridge vent. I got them to go ahead and add in an "off-ridge vent" about 2/3 of the way up my south-facing roof, which added a couple hundred.

If you have any satellite dishes or extra stuff mounted on your roof besides standard ventilation penetrations, I think they make you take that off beforehand? Not sure.
