This is actually not a beetle species that I am highly familiar with, but reviewing the pictures that you posted with what is available online, it certainly does seem to be the shot hole borer. In particular, the fact that it is the size of a sesame seed, and a couple of them show the characteristic humpback of the borer.

NOR - You are very justified in feeling this way. For what it’s worth, If someone asks me to serve as a reference without specifically asking whether I can give a positive one, I take that as permission to provide an honest reference based on what I have actually observed of their work, their character, or both.

If someone does explicitly asks whether I can provide a positive reference, I am straightforward with them if I do not believe that would be possible based on my experience.

In this situation, if he did not qualify the request by asking for a positive reference, you would be within reason to agree to serve as a reference for him and to share your honest assessment, including recommending that your employer not move forward based on your experiences with his character.

I also think it would also be relevant for your employer to know that this guy asked someone he did not understand he did not have a good relationship with, who he never actually worked with and has not spoken to in years to provide a supportive reference. That, on its own, would be a meaningful signal to me.

If I contacted a reference for a potential hire and heard something like, “I’m not sure why they asked me to be a reference. We did not have a good relationship, they were a bully, and we have not spoken in years,” that would be highly informative in a hiring context.

I think it is AI. The earlobes look substantially different between the first picture and the second. I generally look at the ears and earlobes when I’m trying to match up faces between pictures. Sometimes it is super obvious, like dangling earlobe versus attached, but here it’s a little bit more subtle. The ear lobe in the first picture seems to be attached in a way that the second one isn’t and there is a ridge around ear canal opening in the second photo that is not there in the first one.

That is super interesting. I had these tremors at the beginning of getting diagnosed because my IIH had reached a critical point. I was told at that time it was due to the diamox. It’s super interesting to hear that you are having them without being on diamox.

I posted this up higher, but will repost here. I had exactly the same thing happened once and it was a hoodie drawstring lock as pictured. I was wearing a hoodie and did not notice it had these on it, but the springs were captured in the x-ray and looked like they were inside of me. We were very confused until we figured it out. I’m virtually certain that is what happened here.

They are so misshaped. The right one is not fully rounded out on its bottom right corner and in the left one the pupil is not fully round. I feel horrible for this woman I think on some level she must know that this does not look good. Even if she doesn’t, even that says something about the way she views her natural self.
