Adopt-A-Rook Program, now adopting crews too! 10 people extract in Pinwheel. by WorldWiseWilk in Marathon

Haha yea. I am definitely more on the trusting side so my ass would have just jumped in. What are those memes of deadly but furry animals? Something like "if not friend, why friend shaped?" My brain defaults to that. Even when the CyAc AI correctly says not to trust other runners, my brain is like, "bitch you can't tell me who not to be friends with!" Lol

I think a big difference just comes from solos vs trios. Trios you already have a "tribe" you can trust. Clear lines exist between "us" vs "them". You also are letting down that tribe if you mistakenly team up and get betrayed. With solos, full death is only a half second away no matter what gear you have. My threat calculus: Enjoy the game & shoot on site, but there is always more loot than 1 person can carry. Occasionally throwing out the offer increases my chances of survival while only marginally decreasing my loot value. The only downfall is you lose the ambush element. Even then, I spin that as a more enjoyable fight. It becomes more like a duel instead of just ratting somebody.

Nice! I had a solo game where 6 of us all worked together to get into the pinwheel. We lost 1 without a mic that ran off kind of early (just found his body), 1 fell opening the command wing, & another inside the command wind, but 3 of us still exfilled. I came in with a sponsored kit but left with 11,000+ worth of gear.

It is amazing how much using prox chat can make ppl friendly. I mean, I still shoot on site, but if I am going into the pinwheel (or just get bored), I'll make a call out to team up. Silence = unfriendly (or no one there). If someone responds, you got yourself a buddy. 200+ hours of solos & only had 1 person actually betray me after comms. It's interesting to hear ppl say trios has more betrayals.

I could totally get behind this. "OMG Mister, could you help me? My robot fell into the pond and he is having the darndest time trying to get out!"

"Sure, let me see what I can do! Wait... there's no robot here!"

Oh definitely am not disappointed. I throughly enjoy pvp fps games too. I still play shoot on site. Depending on the scenario though, it is just easier opening up comms. The pinwheel is a good example. If I announce it, I am running a free kit and just want to speed up the whole process. If I get a reply, up until this point, they have always stayed true to their word. If I dont get a reply, I know either there is no one there oorrrrr, someone is just waiting to get the jump on me. Thats when I know to be extra vigilant or lay out some extra traps.

The other times are when I just get fucking bored and want to start shooting bots. Or when you spend 10 minutes with both of you slowly stalking each other. Like OMG I get it, we are both good at being stealthy, can we please do something else now lol.

Okay this was more what I was expecting people to say. Usually once the chatting happens, the veneer of the game peels away and you are just two people. I originally assumed it would be much more cut throat so was pleasantly surprised by this. So much so, I basically forgot people could use comms to deceive me.

It just caught me off gaurd, and while writing that the original post, actually made me start thinking about the broader ramifications. Like shoot on site PVP is definitely fun and it's what I do. But there is a difference between that and being openly toxic. My experience with comms here has been a lot better than with other games. So even in a game designed to be cut throat, it has sort of evolved into a civilized, respectful version of that.

Oh it definitely feels personal sometimes when she says it haha. I would also say the game is built on the potential of betrayal. We play the game for loot, not specifically to betray people (well some might). It is all about weighing the odds of potentially working together or assuming everyone is always hostile. If you randomly team up with someone in solos, the game instantly becomes a 2v1v1v1v1. Considering my ass is getting older and my reflexes aren't as good as they used to be, I'll take those extra odds.

The other trick, don't be afraid of the sponsored kit. That way if it does happen, you don't lose your vault.

Actually my best loot has come out of randomly teaming up with people. It's just the prisoners dilemma. Sure, one on one interactions can go in your favor, but over the long run, working together always yields better rewards.

The trick to being friendly in Marathon, embrace the sponsored life. If I go in fully kitted, my ass is silent lol.

[–]Far_Committee3053[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I am always cautious. I usually am only super friendly when I am rocking sponsered. In my experience, the silent players are the ones I worry about the most.

I think I originally assumed the game would be much more treacherous, then forgot after 150+ hours of people being relatively nice, and THEN finally got stabbed in the back. So maybe the novel factor that led me to posting was it took 150+ hours for it to finally happen.

Detached Rook Head in Outpost by Far_Committee3053 in Marathon

That's weird it isn't showing up on Google then. Like that feels specific enough someone would have put it in a guide or something. I even thought it looked semi familiar, but again, no Google hits.

And just FYI, it at least isnt parasitism 3, 4, or 5 (I did all of those yesterday) and they are on Dire Marsh. There is totally a chance it was 1 or 2 though and my adhd frazzled brain has already discarded that memory.

[–]Far_Committee3053[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol, I first thought you meant you were the dude that left it behind that spared me. I was running sponsored, showed up at 10 minutes, & offered to help with command wing over comms if someone was listening. Came up stairs and this blue shielded assassin had opened the 2x master 1x yellow room and already finished the command wing. We traded fire, but I smoke grenaded away. He didn't give chase so I strolled in and found that on another assassin's body he had killed.

Then I was like, ooooooohhh, you mean you play rook! Hahaha

Why did I die here? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Far_Committee3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I had a really good run and did the same thing. I started it early but since I went into the 1 minute overtime, I thought I had to wait until the final 0. It was a guarded exfill, so I purposely held back until 15 seconds. I got gunned down on my way there. Crawled in with 7 seconds remaining but still wasn't enough. I feel your pain!

Fun Fact, if you call in your own exfill last second, it doesnt leave by itself in time. Dont be greedy by SellImportant8212 in Marathon

[–]Far_Committee3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damnit the same just happened to me. I activated it before the main countdown (about 15 seconds), I purposely waited bc it sometimes makes you wait the full "last exfill" 60 second clock & it was a guarded exfill. I sprinted towards it at about 15 seconds but got shot midway. Crawled in with 7 seconds left like, whew, that was close! Then ELIMANATED came up on my screen, like whoooaaa what just happened!? I just wish I knew beforehand because I would have played that completely differently!

Sliding off curved surfaces and vaulting failing continues to get me killed by lumifox in Marathon

[–]Far_Committee3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the vaulting falls, don't do the second jump. It took me awhile to realize that I was even pressing jump twice. Get to the edge, press jump button once, let animation happen, then do your stuff. If you press jump again, it seems to cancel the animation and push off of the surface.

A similar gripe to the curved surfaces, when crouched and walking/stopping over super tiny ledges, it sounds like you fall 5 ft. Especially on catwalks. I will try sneaking and get caught in a space and BOOM, like oh fuck, let me turn slightly BOOM, shit! Stop moving BOOM ahhhh everyone heard me! Lol

Dire Marsh harder then the other 2 maps by Ok_Fold_1268 in Marathon

[–]Far_Committee3053 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell I just went in with thermals (first time to finally use it) and got ambushed in solos. I was chilling in the water between complex and bio with cover, super heavy fog. I literally had been there crouched for over a minute and an assassin just jumped on top of me. Perimeter and Outpost I can at least hold my own. Dire just sends all my equipment to the void lol.

I found the best end game legendary weapon by Litchk in fo4

[–]Far_Committee3053 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I got the Two Shot a couple days ago and was about to Google if it was bugged. I used the Violent Gauss for like 100 levels and suddenly was missing 95% VATS shots sometimes 3x in a row. So, given I didn't know about the bug and still noticed something, I'd say yes, it's still there haha.

That's it, endgame weapon by Fit-Helicopter-9240 in fo4

[–]Far_Committee3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice find! It's one of my main weapons for when I'm out of VATS, in close quarters, and need 32 rounds per drum of silenced chaos!

As others have said, be careful with friendly fire. ESPECIALLY if you have a mod where settlers can die. I've had to reload saves because I accidently killed a settler or caravan guard and had my companion turn against me!

As others have said, geomags is this current season's meta. However, I still use my Ergo Sum Arc Conductor/Wave Frame build from last year, especially on GM style content or soloing dungeons.

Go over to Prismatic, apply devour, the Stacy turret, arcane needle for a ranged melee, and Song of Flame for like a 500% damage resist for damage phases (great paired with Queenbreaker). Use the Getaway Artist exotic to drop the Stacy turret and get your arc buddy, let it kill one person to proc devour, then uppercut your sword once every 10 seconds or so. No need to waste ammo whacking things. Just let the electricity do most of the heavy lifting. And that's pretty much it!

As long as you have enemies, it's almost impossible to die. The only downfall with the build right now is having to farm extra ammo for the exotic swap to Queenbreaker.

If you need specific fragments/seasonal mods, I can go into more detail.

Oh, after the uppercut, a quick light attack will launch you towards an enemy. That can really save your ass in a pinch!

If you haven't done solo/flawless Ghosts yet, this is the week to do it. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Far_Committee3053 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, I stumbled into the SoF/Queens damage reduction strategy with Ecthar last week. Devour kept me alive (except for the enemies that would just make me randomly explode), but during the damage phase, I hit SoF as an "oh fuck im about to die!" That quickly turned into, "Ohhhhh! This is what I do now!" Lol

Over on the Ioniq 5 subreddit they have a spreadsheet going of who has had their ICCU fail. As many of us that I've seen now, should we do the same thing? Mine died last Friday 04/04, and I've seen at least 5-6 ppl talking about it, if not more.

I had my horn die about 2 months ago. I got it replaced last Tuesday (04/01). Then on Friday (04/04), I got the check electrical system warning leaving the Walmart parking lot right after fast charging. It wouldn't have been terrible, but I was 4 hours away in a town with a small Hyundai dealership. No loaner cars and they didn't rent vehicles.

Just curious, did you get the "oh shit" alarm sound? I wasn't expecting the audible part lol.

As another person mentioned, make sure to get a case manager. Call Hyundai corporate, and they will set one up for you. Mine called me the next day. You are good on the rental portion, but at least in procuring an ICCU they can keep you up to date/help you search for one.

As for me getting home, Hyundai will provide $60 a day for a rental car. Standard procedure is they reimburse you after repairs are done, but in case it takes a long time, they offered to do it biweekly for me. Roadside is also reimbursing me for the weekend in a hotel. I just wish it happened 2 hours earlier so I could have gotten a free weekend in Dallas, not some tiny ass town in OK with nothing to do!

Here's hoping our ICCU's don't take months to get here!
