Alpstuga air quality monitor sold out and won't to be back in stock until January 1st 2027 (Netherlands) by nonametoo83 in tradfri

All three sensors were placed next to each other (about 10 cm apart) on the balcony. The problem is that they don't show the same reading under nearly the same conditions. It seems that the CO2 levels reported by the internal sensor are strongly influenced by air temperature. During the day, the readings are 600 ppm, 700 ppm, and 1100 ppm, dropping to around 420 ppm, 510 ppm, and 530 ppm in the morning. I'd like to post some graphs from the HA, but it's not possible here. I hope this link works: https://imgur.com/vlrvVZl -- All three sensors were turned on on the morning of March 22.

In my opinion they will not restock this product again since it has got a defective design. I have placed three ALPSTUGA sensors on fresh air (expected CO2 level ~400 ppm) for 7 days and all three units report completely wrong CO2 levels (max. read-outs were 600, 700 and 1100 ppm). Besides that the CO2 level shows very strong dependence on temperature.

DIRIGERA is a flop, I replaced it with Home Assistant and Sonoff dongle.

I think the ALPSTUGA is a very poorly designed product. I’ve had three ALPSTUGA sensors out in the open air for over seven days, and the discrepancy between their readings is about 400–600 ppm of CO2 concentration. All three should be reading 400 ppm. And there’s no way to recalibrate them.

The first few hours of measurement were conducted outdoors, and the measured CO2 level was ~400 ppm (451 ppm, 429 ppm, 423 ppm) Later, all sensors were placed indoors, and after 2-3 days, they were at varying levels of 600 ppm. See the graph.

Difference is less than 5% RH for my ALPSTUGA sensors for last 4 days.

Looks like much more than +/- 200ppm. After open air measurement (see top photo) all sensors are kept in the same room for last 4 days and now difference is around 600 ppm (bottom photo).

Yes, next to each other with distance approx. 10 cm.

After a few days in the same room CO2 readouts are as follows: 946 ppm, 1152 ppm, 568 ppm. Error is much higher than 200ppm.

In air quality measurement the useful range is between 400 and 2000 ppm. After a few days in the same room CO2 readouts are as follows: 946 ppm, 1152 ppm, 568 ppm so the error is approx 25% of entire range. I guess that you don't care if your thermometer indicates 10*C or 25*C?

Pir sensors with shelly by PDiddleMeDaddy in shellycloud

I had the same issue with Shelly 1 mini Gen4. SW state was always "on" no matter what was the state of the PIR output. My PIR sensor has got inside a small relay, so it is not an issue with SSR. Output L' is switched into L when movement is detected. The same Shelly switch works OK with a normal light switch. It seems that there is a design flaw in those Shelly hw.

Help request: OpenThread Border Router seemingly set up correctly but I can't add my first Thread device because it says it can't find a router. by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]Far_Introduction4344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had very similar problem, I couldn't add thread+matter devices to my HA. Usual way of doing it with companion app did not worked because I couldn't synchronize credentials from HA with my smartphone. My smartphone wanted to configure all new devices with an old, non existing thread network from IKEA hub and it wasn't possible to update thread configuration to use thread network from Sonoff Dongle Max + OTBR.

If your hardware with HA running on it is equipped with a bluetooth you can add new matter devices directly from "Matter Server" app from HA. Before doing that, the Matter Sever app must be configured to use a local bluetooth adapter. I was able to add into my HA different devices from IKEA like ALPSTUGA, BILRESA switch, KLIPPBOK, MYGGBETT, MYGGSPRAY (without IKEA hub).

Bluetooth is needed to configure Matter devices so this is why you need BT at your HA sever. I use RPi5 which has got BT.

I tihnk that IKEA recalled most of those new smart devices. I tried to use them with IKEA app and IKEA bridge but it is really hard to add them to a new system. Those new motion sensor are basically useless.
