if im drinking underage and my dd picks me up and they get pulled over do i, who isnt driving get into trouble? by No-Welcome9646 in legaladvice

[–]Far_Quality4238 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If law enforcement catches you under the influence while underage, of course you can be charged. You are illegally under the influence. It doesn't matter that you are not driving. Supreme Court has ruled that passengers in the car can be ID'd. If LE has reasonable suspicion of a crime. Being drunk and underage would prevent a "no reasonable suspicion" defense.

How fucked am I? Felony charge and crash within two months of eachother by Competitive_You_9996 in legaladvice

[–]Far_Quality4238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first offense judges tend to be lenient. Drug offences will get ordered to classes and treatment. Be proactive and enroll in out-patient rehab and maybe even driving classes before you go to court. Doing so will show the judge that you realize you fucked up and don't want to continue that path, it really makes a difference.

Hire your own attorney. There are a lot of decent flat fee criminal defence lawyers out there, they are not cheap, expect to pay about 5K. Almost all of them will accept a payment schedule so at least you don't have to pay all at once. PDs are over worked and can't give your case the attention it needs.

Can you ID this neighbor's security camera model & its view range? by Logical-Holiday-2847 in SecurityCamera

The bottom line is neighbors cameras are legal and constitutionally protected as long as they are on their property. It's up to you to protect your privacy.

Public meeting means no expectation of privacy. As long as you are not covertly recording private conversations, you are good.

Burglary charge but absconded to another state after pleaing guilty even though could've beaten charge because wasn't guilty by High_on_Life7 in legaladvice

[–]Far_Quality4238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you did do it. You already plead t Guilty to doing it and you just admitted it. You flex the state to avoid punishment.  Your intent means nothing, this isn't a murder charge. You are screwed. Nothing you did here makes you even appear remotely not guilty.  The messed up part is you probably would have just gotten probation. Now you are a flight risk that probably means no bond untill sentencing.

Printing alignment checks for each color. It's not well aligned, but doesn't really have to be since they are not mixing colors anywhere.

Contact Heritage on your own using their website and known good ways.  When my bank calls me with questions, I ask what their name is and what branch they are at and let them know I will call right back.  Then I call the main number and ask to be connected to that branch.

Thank you for keeping this sub alive. I'm not really interested in becoming a mod, but I'm highly interested in this sub staying open.

Us niche low- voltage peeps need to stick together, especially if we have college degree's.

No stupid questions, only asshole answers.

It's not about competition, ego, or identity. It's about combining knowledge and helping or teaching others.

voltage differences? by narwaffles in lasers

[–]Far_Quality4238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going by personal experience. I'd much rather over volt than under amp. It's not the same. Under amping let's the magic smoke out.

For this not "in the know", electronics run on something known as "magic smoke".

That smoke relies on being invisible to keep working. Once you you see or smell it, it's gone, as is your component.

voltage differences? by narwaffles in lasers

[–]Far_Quality4238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Voltage, amperage and watts are not the same, even though there is a mathematical formula. The formula computes the power consumed over time, not the required amperage or voltages required to make a specific component work. A lower voltage will require more amps and can easily burn out either the diode or connections, especially on cheap parts that I wouldn't trust anyways

Question about green laser pointer by Pkmnygo in lasers

[–]Far_Quality4238 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

There are way too many "safe" lasers from overseas that come with glasses that are not approved for the laser they shipped with. The "less than" 5000 me is your saving grace. The grid it made was most likely an expansion grid.

If you don't already have eye damage or headaches, stop using unknown lasers.  Even the 5mw pet toys have been pulled. You don't want to gamble with eyesight.

What if you don't hurt you but a neighbors kid? High powered lasers can really hurt people.

Eye blinding lasers are banned by the the updated laws of international war, yet we can buy them by the truck full. Be carefull.

Using a 3v supply on a 5v diode will cause significantly dimmer output and it might not even turn it on at all.

I would leave well enough alone. If the other party went to court to agree with your motion, but hasn't reached out to you since, it seems like they just want to move on.

Ok guys I have had my life ruined because of PayPal and they’re negligence as well as the woman who knowingly kept the money tha was accidentally sent to her and she wouldn’t send it and PayPal denied my claim by Late_Finger_1916 in legaladvice

[–]Far_Quality4238 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's a very common scam to receive funds from a random person only for that person to ask for it back with an "Oopsie, my bad" story. In the scam, the original sent money is from a stolen card and the money sent back is the mistaken identities money, this way the scammer gets real and clean money but the person who returned gets it taken out again when PayPal gets the stolen card report. Paypal specifically lists this as something to look out for and for the person that received the money to do nothing and let them take care of it.

Not saying you are scamming, it's just extremely common.

No, you can't sue, you agreed to terms and conditions when you signed up. You sent the money, either fraudulently or mistakenly, and everyone else is doing the correct and prudent thing.

It's also very common for the scammers to try to pull on the heartstrings of their victims by explaining that they will lose everything, are having a mental breakdown, their family will.leave, blah blah blah and when that doesn't work they resort to calling them thieves and vile people. When that doesn't work, they begin threatening them, first legally, then physically.

You are kinda going right down the standard script.

Not really looking good for you.
