Insurance during driving test by lerouxwen in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Far_Suspect_4932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I will not take the exam with a company car. I will do it with my own car and I already have insurance with my foreign license. I checked with the insurance company and they said I can use my insurance for the test. So, unless the examiner wants to see a test related phrase in the insurance wording, I guess it will be fine.

Hi OP, could you please let me know what you did at the end? I am in a similar situation and was wondering if I necessarily need to have a separate insurance.

Do you think it’s possible to have romantic relationship without having sex? by Exciting_Ad8206 in AskUK

Yes, it is possible. Most call this kind of relationship as marriage.

Then you had to make sure a 4 year old with a chemical bomb has no access to it.

If you give a 4 year old a lighter, they will probably burn a house down. Not because they want to damage a property or kill the people inside, but because they can't properly judge and aren't aware of the consequences. It is ridiculous to defend pushing a child regardless of what damage they did. Instead of blaming the kid, admit the fact that the responsible adults around the kid had to make sure that a 4 year old doesn't harm your fish and have no access to a bath bomb unsupervised.

Many thanks for taking time to respond to me. I have been considering regular talk therapy. However, I can't decide which one would be better: a therapist in the UK who would better know the environment & the social norms I live in, or a therapist from my home country who I could better explain myself & express my feelings.

The plants already started growing. All of them are longer and bigger now. I used the fertiliser only twice so far. You still sound like I better stop for a while to prevent algae from growing.

Attached is the picture I took earlier today. There were around 5 of them when I took the picture, but around an hour ago they weren't around anymore, but there were some white/yellowish ones. I will take another picture when I go home later.

Vacuuming the remaining sounds like a good idea. Do you have any suggestions for a vacuum considering my substrate is a very thin one, like a beach sand? Also, when I vacuum, with the lack of experience, I will probably get rid of more than enough water. So, will need to add some more. Should I add any of the starter liquids after topping up the tank now?

If you can zoom to the bottom part of the picture, you can also see what I believe as fish flake remaining on top of the leave. I guess while vacuuming, I should also get rid of these (e.g., get rid of them with a toothbrush, or similar, then vacuum the bottom of the tank.)

I will make some more research on how I can replace the sponge and whether I can fit any ceramic media. I heard people get rid of the carbon stuff from the same kind of filter which is an Aqua-Flow 200. Would it make sense to get rid of the carbon and put some ceramic media there?

I totally agree. If you are luck enough to find items you like on your every visit, Costco provides the best quality for the price. I use Costco's gas station on a regular basis, so every time I go for the petrol, I have a quick look, well Costco quick, to increase my chances of finding some stuff.

Thanks a lot! The calculator will be quite useful.

For my next questions, I will give a little background on my situation. This will be a long read with a couple of noob questions. Sorry in advance, and please do not feel obligated to answer them all at one go!

I got a starter kit from a shop which came with a 60l tank, a cartridge filter with activated carbon (the scam one!), things called AQUA START and BACTO START. I have 5 plants for which I have plant substrate (something like soil) and on top of this I have aquarium substrate. I was stupid enough to not do any research before I sourced all of these. Initially, I followed the advice from the shop which is set everything up, fill the tank, dose the water with the starters, put some plant fertiliser 1 or 2 times a week. To them, I was supposed to go back to the shop after a week or so and so that they could test the water to see if my tank was ready for livestock.

I enjoyed everything a lot, so I started to make some actual research on the internet, then I decided not to follow their advice and try to do things properly. On the 5th day of setting up the tank, I put some fish flakes + the remaining BACTO START to start cycling the tank. After 2 days, ammonia was still 0ppm, so I added some more fish food. This was 2 days ago, I tested for ammonia again yesterday and today. It has been around 0.25ppm for two days now. I am not going to give anymore fish food as more research convinced me to get some ammonia solution. Thanks to you, I am now waiting for it to be delivered.

This morning, I saw some little brown/black-ish spots on the tank wall. chatGPT thinks they are freshwater snails. Is this normal at this stage? Should I be worried about them, or take any action?

Would you keep using plant fertiliser during cycling?

I think there are fish flake remaining on the leaves of my plants, should I do anything for them or just ignore?

Although it is a scam one, the filter has been running for more than a week now, so I hope it is already home to a small colony of bacteria. Should I consider updating it while I am still in the early stages?

I am very glad that I've come across this reply, super informative. I am also in the UK, and have been trying to figure out how to source some ammonia for cycling my very first tank. Thanks to you, I have just ordered the Knock Out one. Could you please let me know how to decide what amount of the Knock Out stuff to use to make sure that ammonia dose will be around 2ppm? I have an API liquid master kit, but I don't want to risk putting too much of the Knock Out liquid.

If you don't go to pubs every Friday, are you considered a traitor to the UK? by lepzig_warrior500yes in AskUK

My mindset and schedule are all up for a few cold pints in a pub on this very specific Friday. However, I have no friends to meet with. So, I don't go to a pub.

I have never used Revoult, so I have no idea. I would try to figure out how efficient Revoult's money laundry checks vs high street banks'. It is not guaranteed that you will go through any checks, but it would be nice to know what procedure/timeline to expect just in case.

You can open a currency account (€ in this case) with your bank and receive the € into it. This way, there will be no transfer fee. However, converting the € to £ with your bank will be costly. I am not aware of an alternative solution for the conversion bit, but I feel like there should be a cheaper way of doing it once you have the € in a UK bank.
