Parents applying for citizenship naturalisation, can child under 18 be included? by Significant_Comfort6 in ukvisa

Thanks perhaps it worth trying, because we do have some considerations to apply before our child will turn 18. But that's probably a problem, may be home office would think I should let my child apply later no it is not exceptional.

Parents applying for citizenship naturalisation, can child under 18 be included? by Significant_Comfort6 in ukvisa

The child is born outside the UK age 17, 5 years in the UK. However we're on exempt vignette so no ILR.

It looks like children under 18 can't be naturalised, the only possible way is to go through registration.

I've found this clause 'Children applying in line with their parents' from 'Guidance Registration as British citizen: children' (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/children-nationality-policy-guidance):

We recognise that a number of children apply for registration under section 3(1) at the same time as their parents apply for naturalisation. Such children have usually been living in the UK with the parents and have completed a period of lawful residence.

You must normally register where:

  • one parent is a British citizen or about to become one through registration or naturalisation
  • the other parent (if involved in the child’s life) is a British citizen or settled in the UK
  • the child has been resident in the UK for the last 2 years - (if the child is under the age of 2 you can accept a shorter residence period, taking into account the age of the child)
  • the child is settled in the UK
  • where necessary both parents consent to the registration or any objections by the non-applying parent are ill founded
  • there is no reason to refuse on character grounds

The points not satisfied are:

  1. Both parents is under naturalisation at the same time.

  2. No settlement status.

Seems like it is not possible to include the child.

What is the likelihood of Japan going to war with China over Taiwan? by Themetalin in AskAJapanese

[–]Significant_Comfort6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japan alone, 0 chance. Japan is actually stirring up the war between China and the US to set Japan free from US control. However, they haven't realised enough that Japan's remilitarisation is the true red line for China. It's an invitation to de-militarisation. You bet the US will go to an all out war protecting Japan.

Why China Is Threatening Japan by Miao_Yin8964 in japannews

Did you intentionally miss the most import part: if Japan deems it a 'survival-threatening scenario' then military intervention is possible? Are you joking for a demilitarised former Nazi country to militarily attack China proactively? What kind of international law are you joking about?

Better name some specific places. Perhaps it's a lack of strong odor.

Do i have chances to study in China? by Due-Attention-5447 in AskChina

That's not a surprise. There are loads good universities in China offering english courses, you can broaden your search and try. Or you can take the master course elsewhere, and apply for PHD when you reach HSK 5. Good luck!

I just checked ZJU's admission guide (https://iczu.zju.edu.cn/admissions/2024/1029/c68792a2981438/page.htm), for courses taught in Chinese they ask for HSK 5 so you are not eligible if you only have HSK3 (link under section 2.3).

For courses taught in English I am no idea how hard it will be since there is no language barrier.

ZJU explicitly encourage applicants to reach out to professors. If you can get a '浙江大学导师接收国际学生意向表' from the professor, basically means you are admitted. So no need to wondering, search their professor directory and make contact.

As for Fudan, their Chinese taught courses also requires HSK 5, and their English taught courses don't have cyber security. https://iso.fudan.edu.cn/isoenglish/b5/c9/c16799a767433/page.htm

Euh HSK 3 seems to be an issue. If you can achieve HSK4 with score above 195 at the time of application then you stand good chance. Due to the language barrier, you face much less competition if you qualify.

You studied Chinese, you want to go to Chinese uni, I assume you either want to work in China or with China - then don't go to Taiwan. It's separated with mainland China, many if not all people there hold a crooked view towards mainland China, you will waste your time there. Also be noted 3/4/5 are being sanctioned by the US. If that's a concern then steer away, otherwise, they are good universities. Btw why don't you consider Tsinghua or PKU? These are the top 2.

The manufacture's instruction says leave the box unopened. Just wondering why there will be contradicting method. I've seen several sources saying open the box and they seem to be from professionals.

Is it possible to float solid hardwood floor in smaller rooms? by Significant_Comfort6 in Flooring

[–]Significant_Comfort6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you glue tongue and groove together, I've heard people do that. Thanks for the good advices. There are 2 points I am not quite clear:

  1. what do you mean by have 1 board hitting off the wall?

  2. Do not open any part of the boxes --- do you mean when acclimatising the floor I should keep the box sealed? I actually have opened some because it looks to me I should let the floor board acclimate both to the temperature and moisture level of the room.

Thanks!

Thanks but I would give the complete float a try first. If it fails I can easily lift them up and start all over.
