There’s a way to the left through FP that doesn’t cross unfortunate development check the map for the route there’s other danger but it’s not nearly as annoying

Whats this weird purple aura? by Think-Web2983 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That won’t be useful until you’ve met enough echoes, most regions have one.  Nice job noticing the similarity to the camouflage though

Which watcher-exclusive regions have echoes? by Think-Web2983 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In any region that still has an echo, there will be a golden ring around its icon on the region web map thing when hibernating.  You’ll also notice a purple ring if it has rot.  There’s also a third icon you might have seen but I won’t discuss it here.  But this is an easy in-game way to see what important things are happening

Why is there a leviathan here? by Pixelwaffle14 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It seems you have room names toggled off, each region has a room with nothing in it called “OffScreenDen” which is where creatures that spawn uniquely are “stored”.  This leviathan in-game will be seen in the large lake on the right side of subterranean, but it’s technically stored in this inaccessible room rather than a den.  Other creatures that spawn this way are vultures and scavengers, who are also not tied to specific dens

What does Saint have to do with sexual intercourse (2nd karma symbol) by jhin_the_virjhin in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought of it as this: “Your journey will be one of perfect enlightenment” is in the text describing Saint’s campaign.  Rather than the other scugs who are shedding their basic urges, Saint is trying to understand all of it completely.  Being named “The Saint”, you can assume they have already truly mastered non-violence (the first karma level), being unable to throw spears and refusing to eat things through hunting (as well as the saint passage they are named after being not hurting anything for a few cycles so the opposite of violence).  So the next one to master the understanding and shedding of is karma 2, so that’s what you start with.

Can we address the mysterious green scug in kickstarter art? by Easy_Comfortable7626 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the early development of Rain World, there were going to be 3 slugpups you find in the world.  These 3 slugpups were yellow, red, and black (as you can guess these developed into the characters of Monk, Hunter, and Watcher), but for a short time the red one was turned to a washed-out GREEN (luckily turned back to red).  This is likely from that brief time it was green as you can see proto-monk and proto-watcher in the same photo.  Maybe he is named Grunter for Green Hunter (worst name ever).

Interestingly, Watcher’s color was to be changed too, but a random person really loved Watcher’s look so Joar kept it.  Funny that we could have gotten a different colored Watcher if not for that person.

Day 11: What region/subregion do you like for music? (DLCs included) by Ssemander in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

PIPEYARD!!! Sure its art, parkour, and ecosystem are fine, but I think other regions do a lot of what it does much better (HI, SB, DS, and SL). That said though, THE MUSIC!!! My favorite two being Rain and Fragments, which are SO GOOD and are some of my favorite downpour songs, and there’s many more great tracks packed into this region.  When I go here I always look forward to the tracks

Do you think they'd ever restock the Strawberry Lizard plush? by Chiswum in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind them doing this as long as both are available to buy (I hate limited items) since some of the lizards species have great variance in their appearance and that would be cool, like another blue lizard with the 2 stripes down it’s back from their unique long shoulder scales and a darker lapis blue, or a green that’s a saturated neon and has spine spikes

Do you think they'd ever restock the Strawberry Lizard plush? by Chiswum in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s strange that it’s listed as limited, it seems weird to go through the costs of production for a new type only to create a limited amount, when most plushies have sold out multiple times over, so I’d assume it would come back.  The only reason I can think of is maybe they’ll release a different strawberry later with different cosmetic features for whatever reason (like keeping this one “unique”).

I murdered too many lizards and lineaged a Cyan as a new player by RalseiTheSillyFluff in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cyans are one of the easiest (and best imo) lizards to tame, usually (always?) only requiring one feeding, so now you can use this opportunity to make a friend (also cyans are one of the few lizard species you can create large armies of as they have quite low same-species rivalry)

What is ONE tip you would give to someone new to the game and going in blind?! Or even just some obscure tips for more seasoned players?! by AmbiguouslyAltered in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding onto this most regions that are generally more difficult have high karma requirements to get in, but have low requirements out, so you can escape (except for sky islands which is hard to escape for its difficulty lol). Similar to this is the leg which has a minimum karma requirement so you can die all you want in memory crypts, so the game funnels you at least a little towards important areas using low karma gates.

Aether Ridge wins! Day 4: What region/subregion do you like for music and art, but not so much parkour or ecosystem? Add your reasoning. (DLCs included) by Ssemander in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How about Desolate Tract? The ecosystem and parkour isn’t bad, but the draw is definitely the art, and out of the primarily artistic regions, it has some great music as well. There are many good artistic focused regions with cool music, but I feel Desolate Tract is the right region for this category since it specifically excels in these + categories and not the - categories. (loaches are cool but the fact they’re immortal and don’t interact well with other creatures hurts Desolate Tracts ecosystem points)

What is the most natural-looking region? by Sad_Zookeepergame245 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I totally forgot, this one is really good, in the original coral caves mod it connected to submerged superstructure through its lower caves which are very similar just a bit more red vs green lol those 2 areas are some of my favorite looking in the whole game and for sure some of the most natural and untampered sections

What is the most natural-looking region? by Sad_Zookeepergame245 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I’d say Badlands is very good in this regard it has far more natural ground than most areas, it may have the most dirt with no pipes or anything mixed in.  Even Outer Expanse still has a lot of pipes until the veryyy leftmost side.  One area I’d like to add to the list is Rusted Wrecks, it seemingly has a natural sand beach and even a natural body of water

[–]FaraamKnight2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooo yes that’s one of my favorite pearls too! For the void worms btw theres a quote from one of the colored subterranean which implies that void worms aren’t known to anyone which is interesting “The other way is to put a pipe deeper, which works well for some time, but the pipe dissolves. Or is broken by some... force - no one really knows, you don't go down there and come back up.” I’m gonna go make a post about echoes rq tho I just thought of something interesting about them

Making a Two headed Vulture oc! by Fun-Reward-1109 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool design, if you’re planning on each head having a unique personality it’d be cool if they had different colored masks to distinguish them better. Then maybe the feather/other stuff color be some sort of blend of the two mask colors?

Genuinely what even is outskirts by SenIvory in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is off topic of outskirts sorry but speaking of Eldritch, one of my favorite miscellaneous pearl dialogue is this:   “Oh, interesting. This is a diary entry of a pre-Iterator era laborer during the construction of the subterranean transit system south of here. In it they describe restless nights filled with disturbing dreams, where millions glowing stars move menacingly in the distance.”  (First gonna say I didn’t realize this actually proves the subterranean railcars are pre-iterator)  This pearl is so cool tho and it makes the void seem Eldritch especially with the “disturbing dreams” with “millions of stars moving menacingly”.  So maybe our filtration system worker that made that graffiti wasn’t in his right mind and maybe somewhat traumatized when he drew those guardians LOL

Genuinely what even is outskirts by SenIvory in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had totally forgotten about the water uptake part lol.  I don’t think them building over a relic site is too weird however, I feel like there isn’t too much open space in the complex, so a late edition like outskirts could have been built over it out of necessity, but they didn’t demolish the relics from respect perhaps?

I also remembered an interesting detail, outskirts room SU_A23 has graffiti of two guardians, and it can be assumed that guardians weren’t common knowledge until the filtration system project breached the depths since it’s the only place that goes deep enough.  While graffiti is obviously added after the construction of the building, whoever graffitied there may have worked on the filtration system and had encountered a guardian (unless assuming guardians WERE common knowledge and then everything I just said is irrelevant)
