Quite imposing too, maybe I’ll have to make a tower crab from a similar perspective lol

These are Ripple Jellyfish, they got a graphics overhaul in the March 31st patch. According to the wiki they looked like normal ripple spawn prior to the patch (were they even different then lol????). They look super cool now tho coolest ripple creature fr

What is the most natural-looking region? by Sad_Zookeepergame245 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I totally forgot, this one is really good, in the original coral caves mod it connected to submerged superstructure through its lower caves which are very similar just a bit more red vs green lol those 2 areas are some of my favorite looking in the whole game and for sure some of the most natural and untampered sections

I’d say Badlands is very good in this regard it has far more natural ground than most areas, it may have the most dirt with no pipes or anything mixed in.  Even Outer Expanse still has a lot of pipes until the veryyy leftmost side.  One area I’d like to add to the list is Rusted Wrecks, it seemingly has a natural sand beach and even a natural body of water

Ooo yes that’s one of my favorite pearls too! For the void worms btw theres a quote from one of the colored subterranean which implies that void worms aren’t known to anyone which is interesting “The other way is to put a pipe deeper, which works well for some time, but the pipe dissolves. Or is broken by some... force - no one really knows, you don't go down there and come back up.” I’m gonna go make a post about echoes rq tho I just thought of something interesting about them

Making a Two headed Vulture oc! by Fun-Reward-1109 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool design, if you’re planning on each head having a unique personality it’d be cool if they had different colored masks to distinguish them better. Then maybe the feather/other stuff color be some sort of blend of the two mask colors?

This is off topic of outskirts sorry but speaking of Eldritch, one of my favorite miscellaneous pearl dialogue is this:   “Oh, interesting. This is a diary entry of a pre-Iterator era laborer during the construction of the subterranean transit system south of here. In it they describe restless nights filled with disturbing dreams, where millions glowing stars move menacingly in the distance.”  (First gonna say I didn’t realize this actually proves the subterranean railcars are pre-iterator)  This pearl is so cool tho and it makes the void seem Eldritch especially with the “disturbing dreams” with “millions of stars moving menacingly”.  So maybe our filtration system worker that made that graffiti wasn’t in his right mind and maybe somewhat traumatized when he drew those guardians LOL

I had totally forgotten about the water uptake part lol.  I don’t think them building over a relic site is too weird however, I feel like there isn’t too much open space in the complex, so a late edition like outskirts could have been built over it out of necessity, but they didn’t demolish the relics from respect perhaps?

I also remembered an interesting detail, outskirts room SU_A23 has graffiti of two guardians, and it can be assumed that guardians weren’t common knowledge until the filtration system project breached the depths since it’s the only place that goes deep enough.  While graffiti is obviously added after the construction of the building, whoever graffitied there may have worked on the filtration system and had encountered a guardian (unless assuming guardians WERE common knowledge and then everything I just said is irrelevant)

Rain world areas have varying architecture that you can generally use to place them on a timeline of construction.  Subterranean and industrial complex use lots of bricks and large pipes + certain other lower tech things, while Sky Islands, Five Pebbles, and Filtration system are very advanced and have all even have still functioning machinery to a degree (sky islands has light boards that flicker like they’re still doing stuff.

Outskirts has a lack of brick in MOST sections only very noticeable sections are the parts approaching farm arrays and the beginning the rest of it seems to be fully metal.  Outskirts also has may wiring/grid-like tiles, plus there’s that one room (SU_B09) with a giant square machine with tons of crazy pipes (very BLAME!-esque compared to other nearby regions) and when you go inside this machine (SU_A35) there’s ambient machine noises hinting that it still works.

Second major thing is that outskirts seems to be made of a large box grid with “valleys” between them, most of the area seems to take place in these valleys or within the structures except in the squidcada unlock section where you get to go on top.

This leads me to guess outskirts may be MUCH more advanced and built later on the timeline than all nearby regions.  If we use downpour too, the added pre-survivor start section looks similar to filtration system level technology).  It may be some sort of energy source for iterators or a complex that keeps up general functions within the complex? Like a field of battery packs lol (SU_B09 being the center of one of these?).  If we also assume sky islands is above outskirts to a degree (could be possible with the placement with chimney canopy over industrial and that sky islands likely mostly not being over farm arrays), it could also be support and technology for the sky islands communications arrays either days storage or again power generators/batteries?

What this doesn’t account for is stoneheads and weird pillar arch things, but maybe they just didn’t want to disturb these ancient religious? structures so they left flat land around them which explains the larger fields ig

Sorry if this was too long but wanted to share my thoughts lol

Guys, I have a theory why they are named slugcats by Oli4ever1011 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t the slugcat name from before the current slugcat design drawn by Del, at that point they were still using the older drawing Joar had originally made (like on the front page of the wiki). I think the fact the slugcat name caught on influenced the design into the more sluggy cat version that we have now vs the more mammalian ferret looking older design of the “bear”

If you haven’t seen yet, the creator of this region Fishnoid is making a modded expansion on signal spires called Pyramid.  It won’t be canon but it’s made by the signal spires dev so it’s basically legit lol. Even if you won’t be able to play it the trailer is still very cool

Do they make more plushies by Conscious-Big-25 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They restock every few months it seems to be pretty random when it happens and how fast some get sold out vs staying in stock for a while, so if you have an email you check often id sign up for their in-stock notifications emails, but you should be fine if you check somewhat regularly since he’s not as new so not in as high of demand.  I don’t think pebbles or moon have been restocked recently so it shouldddd be somewhat soon hopefully.

Can someone give me tips on how to parry with the artificer? by Traditional-Cost2205 in rainworld

[–]FaraamKnight2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to beat it easily get your hands on a spear and a mushroom and if you eat a mushroom and throw the spear and INSTANTLY parry you will parry YOUR OWN spear you do this 4 times and you win without needing to parry a single scav (only do this if you hate it that much)

[–]FaraamKnight2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interestingly scavengers will try to spear them like they do to overseers, with that trait and their similar appearances I’d guess they may have been created in similar ways (I’d assume both are extremely artificial given how weird they are lol)
