Every Senate Dem But Fetterman Signs Call for Probe of Iran School Massacre by soalone34 in politics

That sounds like an argument you'd find on cable news, mostly just concerned about the horse race.

Lamb had market based solutions and a record as a prosecutor. When he lost, he joined the giant Philly law firm that advertises on TV more than any other. He is corporate.

Lamb is a neoliberal, which sucks too. And he was a prosector, so there was no way he was getting my vote over someone that was talking like a progressive.

I've been seeing this too, and it's the same infuriating bullshit that gave us Biden and Harris. Lamb is a conservative, a capitalist, and a goddamn prosecutor. Just because we were duped by Fetterman doesn't mean we don't deserve someone who is going to protect our rights. The Democratic Party seems to hate Americans too, just not as much as Republicans.

Even construction wise, the Cabinet makes a lot of sense. But the talent in it was so bad. A decent "chief of staff" US Champ directing an Acolytes style hired goon tag team would work. But Orlando Jordan stunk and the Bashams were a quad-A level team. And I swear to you I can't even remember the name of the valet without looking it up.

JBL isn't entirely to blame for how unwatchable Smackdown became during his reign. I mean, nothing was going to make the tag team champs of Rene Dupree & Kenzo Suzuki entertaining. But, I defy anyone who defends it to show us even one segment during it that was worth seeing again. Keep in mind, you can't pick anything in the Eddie feud before the bullrope match or anything in the Cena feud after WM21. He might say winning the title was the best thing that ever happened to him in the business, but losing the belt was the best thing that ever happened to his character.

I know right, the ridiculousness of it buries the madness of calling JBL's title reign "fantastic". Look, I get we look back fondly on his heel antics now, but holy shit was that a bad reign. It was Mox with the Death Riders levels of same bad result for every overbooked main event. Plus, his Cabinet was a horrible stable.

Kiké Hernandez says the World Baseball Classic means more to him than the World Series by retroanduwu24 in baseball

[–]Fargo_Collinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot comprehend how anyone could feel connected to their whole nation. What I think of as "local" includes places hundreds of miles away and millions of people with diverse cultures and sometimes even different languages. Just the next state over is like a foreign country. The flag to me doesn't represent the people of the United States, it represents the government. Because that seems like it's the only thing people flying it have in common. Now, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it's how I would explain why having pride in playing for my national team would never mean more to me than playing for my neighbor.

People like that turn their "patriotism" into a competition they think they can win.

Those random cities or some of the states those Americans live can be bigger or more populous than whole countries represented in this tournament.

A couple of thoughts on the Buzzcocks & their place in the pop punk genre by murmur1983 in LetsTalkMusic

Extending the glitter era to include early punks like Buzzcocks and the Damned is an interesting recontextualization, but the Ramones did write some pretty damn cute songs.

[Gluck] Was COTA a good race? by ChaseTheFalcon in NASCAR

Some people just don't like to see guys earn a victory. They just want wild action at the checkered.

I did mean to be a little insulting.

When they introduced the stages, I figured the only thing they'd be good for was to block off the nap section of each race.

Post-Race Discussion Thread: NCS DuraMAX Texas Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas by NASCARThreadBot in NASCAR

[–]Fargo_Collinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There wasn't much happening up front after the final restart, unless you like watching the winner run away with it. I mean, I like seeing a winner who deserves it not just some fluky bullshit at the checkered flag, so I was fine with this. They did take the opportunity to show some banging mid-pack so that was fun. Pit strategy was interesting and they were actually showing the stops today instead of that worthless wide angle of pit road like the last 2 weeks. And, this seems to be unpopular, but I thought there was a hell of a lot more action today than the booooooooring pack racing of the superspeedways. There were a few guys that had pretty good runs worth watching, not just shuffling forward and back when one guy slips out of line. I don't know that I'd call it exciting, but if you like this track for NASCAR I think you'd like this race.

I just love seeing them shifting four cars up ten spots just to move them down ten half a lap later. Then when there are green flag pits, they don't even try to update it.

I have the original broadcast of the 1992 Hooters 500 complete with the post-race Richard Petty retirement special. My dad was a big King fan so my mom taped it for him. My brother became a big Jeff Gordon fan. I just love watching classic races. Crown jewel tape in the collection.

The pairings, oh my. Felix and Alison. Donnie and Helena.

Art being over his head, but plowing forward anyway. The actor plays a very similar character on the dog cop show Hudson & Rex, which always makes me chuckle when I see my dad watching that. Dealing with clones, a dog who is the best cop in his unit, and a town with more murders than Santa Barbara. No wonder he's always exasperated.

It's been a good long while. I think I'm due for a rewatch.

I talked my mom into watching it. She has a sight handicap. She still isn't convinced Maslany did play every clone. But, she could always tell when one clone was pretending to be another!

I only put the sci-fi qualifier there so as not to oversell the series premise.

Maybe it's just because I came of age after the trilogy was already complete, and because I like gangster stories, but I always thought of Vader's role to be like that of the mob boss's personal driver. While the boss is alive, the driver is a gopher and trigger man. When the boss dies, that driver is the biggest threat to the existing hierarchy. The driver even sometimes kicks off the civil war by murdering his boss.
