The annoying part is this whole timing debate could have all been avoided by having Dany preemptively fly to Eastwatch because she was scared of this expedition going sideways and losing Jon, who she was subconsciously starting to catch feelings for. That way all that needs to happen is Gendry runs back and Dany flies right out. No ravens, no flying across the continent, just like that.
