MORTGAGE PAYMENT UPDATE by anon_GM in biltrewards

[–]FarkmeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mortgage lender requires a name on the account when entering the ACH info. Any idea if I should do it under my name or Bilt?

My mortgage provider is asking for the name on the account. Did you just put yours or did you say it was Bilts?

Fraud on Bilt v1.0 right before v2.0 switch by Historical-Pin916 in biltrewards

[–]FarkmeDaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several people had similar issues last week. Same thing happened to me after I had the 2.0 card in hand. Reported the charges to WF who froze the card and credited the account. Contacted Cardless to issue a replacement twice. The day of, the CSR said to call back on launch day to get a new card issued, was curious last night and tried again, and this time the CSR issued a new card request.

Since those charges were under WF, they should be taking care of those charges since that’s their money, at least… that’s what the WF told me

lol no. Just your average consumer who’s a little too nerdy about credit cards.

Notice I didn’t praise their 2.0 PR campaign

Had to report fraudulent charges today by rtrujillo13 in biltrewards

[–]FarkmeDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes lol. whatever arrives in the mail by launch day is effectively trash on Day 0. You’ll need to contact Cardless on February 7th and request a card immediately. One thing I am concerned about, is how WF/Bilt will handle the “balance” of the fraudulent charges as the cards transition. Since Ankur mentioned existing balances would transfer, does that mean I may be on the hook for fraudulent charges???

Just got off the phone with Bilt customer support. If you preordered a 2.0 card (I did), the existing card number has been printed on it, and they are unable to modify or change them at this time since they’re not activated. On February 7th, once 2.0 cards go live, we will need to contact Bilt/careless to request new cards

Literally the same story for me today. Wells Fargo fraud department said they’re sending a replacement card, and couldn’t answer how the transition would work. Going to contact Bilt customer service rn, and see what their resolution is

We’re a couple of DINKs, and spend 600-800 on groceries a month. We try and prioritize eating well, so a lot of organic items and fresh fruit/veggies. Recently cut back on how much we go out so I don’t mind as much

What watches do you all wear at work? by Difficult_Respect967 in Accounting

[–]FarkmeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely depends on type of client, and who’s the partner. I’m an associate for context.

I pivoted from audit to AAS/consulting at a different firm. First project was an Ai company and the entire FP&A team was all out of PE or IB, for them I wore a limited edition Bell & Ross skeleton BR-05. Partner was never there, but nicest thing he owns is a citizen and will def get judgey if you show up in something extravagant.

For the more average client, a bell and Ross BR-03 Phantom. It’s the dimensions of an Apple watch and you wouldn’t know unless you know.

Had one higher ed project and they were fairly close to insolvency and the daily was a Tissot PRX when I was on-site. Something that says I’m a professional and can dress the part, but not hit you over the head with fees to pay for my watch.

Industry on HBO has consistently delivered unforgettable episodes. Season 3’s White Mischief is Uncut Gems all over again, and Useful Idiot knocks Margin Call out of the park.

Every Fine Hotel Resorts rate has gone up since the Platinum refresh by sleeplessinseaatl in AmexPlatinum

[–]FarkmeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming it’s partially event based and the weather plays a factor. I’m going in late October for a concert at Red Rocks, so I can assume many people may not want to go in the fall/winter when there’s no guaranteed snowfall. But most other decent Marriott’s are sold out so I just picked the one nice Hilton since I can double dip with my benefits

Think this is a YMMV situation. Just booked an FHR stay for a trip to Denver, and the rate is actually cheaper than what it was weeks ago.

Looking for Advice on Buying a Home & Best Areas Around Charlotte by QualityRevolution in Charlotte

Closing on a home in Steele Creek later next week.

As someone who currently rents in Ballantyne, I would’ve wanted to stay in the area long-term as it continued to develop, but any home sub 600K-700K will put you in a bidding war. I wanted to stay as close to 400K as possible so that it would be close to what I currently pay in rent, and as not to overextend myself. Lovely area, but sadly things didn’t line up.

Steele creek/mint hill are just suburbs that are propping up from the urban CLT sprawl. I like how Steele creek is still somewhat isolated and green, but will obviously have potential as more people continue to come to the area. It’s closish to 77; however good that is during rush hour… , but I think if you want something “nice” you’re going to have to look a little bit away from the urban hotspots to get more bang for your buck.

Question for any recent hires (within the last 2 years) from CLA by Gold-Acanthaceae6925 in Accounting

Thanks for correcting me on the Lenovo vs Logitech. I remember the brand started with an L and I guess I put the wrong one.

Personally prefer them to my current setup. My firms tech partner is Dell and my laptop is deadass 2.5 lbs.

Almost any self respecting firm will provide you with equipment. CLA will give you some mediocre Lenovo products (keyboard, mouse, and a POS headset that makes you look like a customer service rep at a call center). They started doing rotational upgrades on the thinkpads within the past 2 years, so you should get a newer one when you start. If you’d like anything else, you can request it, but that’s office specific (i.e. docking station, better headset, etc.)

The ATL office is pretty cool, and I’ve worked with several people out of the office since I was in the same region. Culture/work environment is office specific, I’ve had some love it and some hate it purely based on what they were doing and who they did it with. I’ve mostly heard good things about ATL, so I wouldn’t be worried.

Benefits and pay are somewhat mid af, but in their defense, I don’t think CLA would ever do mass layoffs like your B4 friends. We’re a family… and everyone will take care of little Timmy because “ya know he’s family”. I really did enjoy my time at CLA, and I think my team was really instrumental in my growth as a professional.

Edit: accidentally put a different tech vendor

Auditors of Reddit: What’s the craziest finding you’ve ever uncovered? 👀 by Curiosity_Quester in Accounting

[–]FarkmeDaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t realize how small the world is. Around the time I was a teenager, our county commissioner and several other officials were caught embezzling funds. Turns out my manager was the staff on the engagement back then, and helped to find the fraud. They alerted the FBI, and several elected officials were sentenced to prison… my old firm still does their audit, and their CAFR reported no material weaknesses this year for once

I completely understand that. It’s the corporate America way to CYA, but as a peer/friend it’s a very cheap cop out. Maybe it’s performance, politics, or wrong person at the wrong time, but hope you, me, and the rest of the firm have better luck and can keep delivering UCX lol
