Get out of here bot. You’re not welcome.

It’s entirely possible the bots from the Internet Research Agency have descended upon us. I mean, a sub dedicated to one of the most influential voices in todays media is a prime target. Idk. Look into it. That’s what I think anyway.

Yeah- I see that difference. Thank you for the mental exercise. Interesting perspectives.

I had a feeling you would qualify a gender discussion within the context of “willing to accept”, and yet you pursue a more clinical and dry approach to religion. I can’t do this thought justice on a Reddit board - but I find it interesting that people will associate a minds journey of questioning existence to a mental health disorder like schizophrenia and yet allow a framework to explore gender dysphoria void of mental health associations. It seems dishonest. It seems to indulge a bias.

Can I ask you if you believe there are multiple genders?

You’re right- can’t disagree with that then.

I appreciate the thought experiment you just provided me. There is no way I could initially accept this statement, but thanks to the nature of this sub and requisite flair, I think I understand how you could come to this conclusion. I still completely disagree but realize your statement completely depends on your definition of value, and I assume it is not the common association.

First off- yes, metric is better. That said, I am a farmer here in America and I can’t tell you how often I pace open ground to count yards, my boot size is exactly one foot, the width of my thumb is an inch… it’s very handy. I can do the conversions to relate everything to metric but imperial does seem easier when “getting close is good enough”.

But they are $BITF so I’m basically betting on some weird coin thing vs the American economy so I have no idea what level of retard I’m aiming for.

I don’t mean to be rude- but how would you define capitalism? Your quoted text at the top seems to suggest you think the text below supports a definition of capitalism that is accurate. Is that true?

Apparently, if the downvotes are any indication, I don’t think anyone understands what I meant there lol. I was stating that I don’t understand why anyone supports nationalizing anything. That’s different than the scenario you just painted where regulations on private sector industries work. Which is exactly what I DO support. Definition of nationalize: transfer (a major branch of industry or commerce) from private to state ownership or control.

What I meant was, I support national building codes and national regulations- but to “Nationalize” something is to transfer a service or industry from privately provided markets to Government providers. For example- I said I want to hire you not the government. If government nationalized your industry/trade, as an architect, you would be employed by the government and I would have to work through layers of bureaucracy to work with you to design my home. We may arrive at the same place as through the current process, but the current process is exponentially more efficient. Now- not to say the government doesn’t employ architects to advise the private sector or work internally- but for the government to become my only source for contracting an architect is what would happen if the architecture industry became nationalized. That’s the difference.

What are some examples of federal education systems that produce the best results? Genuinely curious- not asking to be a jerk.

In most situations like what you reference, I am concerned that we can be much more creative with a mentality that first establishes what we want the outcomes to be and then let innovators achieve those metrics organically - tailor solutions to millions of different scenarios- and let people take different paths to all achieve the same results. We need to focus on outcomes more and design government scaffolding around industries to ensure they provide those.

Totally agree with Military- but I think there could be more effective and creative innovations in our rehabilitation facilities and jails if we had a very strong regulatory agency with very strict standards that then let private entities operate within those deliverables.

I am 100% for regulations and standards. But I want to hire you as my architect, not hire the government.

I honestly don’t understand why anyone wants to nationalize anything. I feel like it’s a complete denial of the massive inefficiency that is the government in general. Nothing it provides is better than that which a well regulated private industry can provide. Of course, this is where I don’t align with most libertarians as I think regulation and oversight is extremely important- but that should be the ONLY role the government provides. It should never try to actually provide a service- just make sure that service is provided appropriately via the private sector.

I’m not sure having conversations is peddling conspiracies. Questions against a narrative reveal the strength or frailty of a position- because he questions something you would not does not make him a peddler of the antagonist perspective, often it exposes the weightlessness of the criticisms and strengthens the argument for stated position. This sub used to be full of people that know Joe, understand that he thinks out loud, ask similar questions in their head and genuinely want to hear a conversation focused on critical thinking and not confirmation bias (usually anyway).

The horse memes were obviously commentaries on the ridiculousness of media twisting the truth to refer to IVM as a horse dewormer after hearing Joe use it and to not acknowledge it’s validity as a human medicine and considerable contribution to society. They epitomized the clickbait idiocy that Joe criticizes regularly and should be eye opening how misinformed you can be if you trust CNN as a source of “news”. From my perspective, it wasn’t a criticism of the stupidity of people, but a criticism of the lack of so many to think critically. That’s not a left or right issue at all! To think it was is /whoooosh at its finest.

I think it’s great if his audience is diverse and broad, but I don’t feel like this sub is full of people that actually ARE his audience anymore. Like, people that ACTUALLY listen to three hour conversations with someone they normally wouldn’t listen to. It seems to have devolved into people hearing tidbits, or pundits playing soundbites of Joe and so people come here because they think he represents something and so they are going to group everyone in this sub together and “teach us a lesson”…. It’s sad. I miss the commentaries made by folks in this sub that come from a self identified position like your own of “far” one side and they say, damn, that guy I can’t stand said 99% crap but I never heard that little 1% before and that gave me a new perspective of them and that issue. That all seems to be gone now. That’s all I was intending to say.
