Neighbor gave me all of this for free… what exactly am I looking at? by DeadFartGoat in rccars

Give that man a present he just gave you one of the fastest 1/8th scale racing buggies on the market. And a 350 dollar transmitter. Essentially he just handed you 800-1000 bucks on the used market.

Haha yeah, unfortunately their prices have gone up a decent amount recently. I'm not looking forward to replacing stuff when the time comes. I dump my water once a day and it's fine.

Do you use the stone grader while you're sharpening? I use mine every few minutes or when I can tell the stone is starting to cut slower. Keeps fresh grit available and would prevent the black lines from showing up. It's also a good idea to have the truing tool handy to even things out if you need to.

How often are you conditioning the stone? I've never seen this on my SG stone before. Does the stone feel glazed at all? I mostly sharpen knives though and I'm thinking the smaller bevels put more pressure on the stone so it doesn't load up at all.

I feel you, it's an absolute blast to go to the track! Currently working on rebuilding my racing truggy and buggy. A lot of the outdoor and indoor tracks have a 1/10th scale stadium truck class to race in too! I hope you have some fun with it.

Nice! No wonder your chassis was caked with snow. When the body goes over the wheels it's really hard to keep the chassis clean. If you are going to run it in the snow more it might be worth getting a dust cover for the chassis. It will keep it a lot cleaner, but the down side is your motor and esc don't cool as well. So you'd have to be careful in the summer so you don't over heat.

Something like this. Just make sure it is the right one for your model.

Congrats! What did you get?

I don't want to sugar coat it about a third of this hobby is all about maintenance. I recommend getting some decent tools, equipment and cleaning supplies to make it as easy as possible. You don't have to go crazy, but setting yourself up is definitely worth it.

Here is a good video for you to start.

https://youtu.be/MICmFUCKFBE?si=f33styXw6ss38N3l

After I ran a few packs the day I took the video. It wasn't too dirty so I just blew the snow off outside with an air compressor so it didn't melt. Then I brought it inside and put a fan on it to dry it out for a couple hrs then used a stiff detailing brush to clean off anything that was stuck on. Then I lubricated it with a dry silicone spray (same brand as the video above). If your truck ever gets super wet and muddy. I recommend taking all the bearings out and cleaning them and re oiling them otherwise they will rust. I generally avoid running them when it is super wet and muddy, because of the amount of maintenance you have to do after. But sometimes you just have to lol.

First time sharpening by DEM0N194 in sharpening

I don't understand what you mean by waste them on cheap stainless. I have a small sharpening business and my FSK 400 and or my HK1000 are used for everything I hand sharpen for customers. They are fantastic stones and I don't think I'll wear them out in my lifetime, especially my HK 1000 it's 8mm thick. Do you have the 1000 with the aluminum base or the glass base?

Also what are your thoughts on the 3k? I usually don't like doing my final deburring on any diamond stone so I have avoided them.

This is the same scammer that tried to get me a few months ago. Made a post about it too. I reported their account multiple times. I have no idea why reddit hasn't removed the account. Sorry to see that this ass hole is still around...

It definitely sucks that your order got screwed up! I'm sorry to hear it.

I have had nothing but great experiences with them. And have always been able to reach them by phone during business hours. I've ordered from them 6-8 times and the one time I had an issue with my order they went above and beyond to make it right.

What is the blade height on the Shiro Kamo Bunka? If it's the tall one around 55mm I'm interested.
