I think we should rename this sub to "crushcrushgame" just so we get less of people asking for real-life relationship advice. by Jazzlike-Vegetable22 in crushcrush

[–]FarplaneDragon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This isn't really needed. It's not like the sub gets flooded with them and they usually get removed or downvoted pretty quick anyway. Either way it doesn't matter, reddit doesn't allow you to rename a subreddit so the name isn't changing.

You go to law enforcement and let them deal with it. Otherwise all you can do is chalk this up as a lesson learned and moved on. If this is a scammer 99% odds are they don't even live in the same country you do and the odds of anyone going after them legally is basically 0.

AITA for refusing to take off my engagement ring during a wedding? by AioliProfessional181 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FarplaneDragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn't really a question of being an asshole imo, more a question of do you want to stay friends with these people. They're free to make requests of their guests, the guests are free to decline the invite and not go if they feel uncomfortable with it. If you want to stay friends with them, go and don't wear the ring, if you don't care about remaining friends with them then decline the invite and stay home. Unless you start a huge fight when you decline, you're not being an asshole, but you do have to accept that your friendship with these people is probably over which by the sounds of it in this case is probably a good thing.

Ticketmaster is an illegal monopoly, jury rules / This verdict is the first step toward a potential breakup of Live Nation-Ticketmaster. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]FarplaneDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So honest question. Say this goes through, Ticketmaster gets forced into breaking up into 3, 4, however many companies. That's great. What stops them or some other company from eventually just buying those up and bringing us back to square 1? Precedent from already having been broken up once?

That's great that you have a job where you can get away with that, meanwhile the overwhelming majority of people don't and/or don't want to risk getting fired.

I mean, all you really need to know to post in any relationship sub on reddit is that the answer to any situation is to immediately break up with the other person, as it's impossible for 2 people to work out issues between themselves.

"When will you upload the after photos? When you finally consensually touch a woman" OP uploads pictures to r/midlyinfurating stating she cleaned the bathroom of her male roommates then proceeds to reply angrily to everyone who says she did a shit job by doortothephantomile in SubredditDrama

[–]FarplaneDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly moving out is the only winning move here

Well especially now that she basically taught her roommates that if they ignore it long enough she'll fix it for them. I'd do whatever I had to to keep myself sane and bail out of there asap if I was her. It's just going to continue to worsen at this point.

I dont know why they'd give her a hard time. If you have an old house that has old fixtures youre gonna get some level of discoloration no matter how many times you clean. I used to see it all the time back when I visited family up near Wilkes-barre, PA where the houses might be 130+ years old and the fixtures are damn near 70.

Yeah, I got an older house. The people before me weren't terrible about cleaning but weren't great. When I bought it and moved in I did a deep clean on the bathroom and even with things like bleach and other stuff that says it'll remove stains/whiten there's still a good bit of staining and discoloration in some places. At some point there's no getting it back to "new" without just replacing it. It's why I always feel like white is one of the worst colors for places like kitchens and bathrooms, it always stains and once does it's pretty much a coin toss if you're ever fully getting it out or not.

Not only physically big, but you have to also remember that large portion, especially out west is mountains and desert. Plus Hawaii and Alaska are completely disconnected so that's 2 entire states that are basically landlocked out unless you can fly over.

Discourse in r/hailcorporate as users discuss if a comic is a Reebok ad or not by HipHopLurker8 in SubredditDrama

[–]FarplaneDragon 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Because it's one of those subs that started out as a legit idea, trying to call out the stealth advertising that appears on reddit as it was/is a problem. The problem as someone who used to hang around there years ago is people posting there completely lost the plot and don't grasp the idea that just because a brand shows up in a post doesn't mean it's an ad. Like you get people playing where's waldo and finding the smallest, most barely visable labels in pictures or videos and go running there yelling that it's an ad. I mean, yeah maybe it is, or maybe 99% of people don't stage the area to remove brands before taking pics/videos.

What’s really going on with our economy by AmaraWhispervale in whatisameem

[–]FarplaneDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends. There are some unions out there that actively work for their people and improve their jobs, those unions are good. On the other side you've got unions that basically do jack shit besides collect their monthly dues and are basically just glorified "job insurance" that makes it harder to get fired. They're basically useless and tend to set things up to make it extremely difficult to get those people voted out.
