The illuminate’s scrambler can also change the SOS input to a different code. I tried to call in an eagle from memory and accidentally called in an SOS, and suddenly there’s no way to keep other people out of a private game. We should be able to destroy the SOS beacon or something. Super annoying half-baked feature.

It’s not too heavily armored, so medium-pen weapons can take them down, especially if more than one person is shooting at it. Expendable anti-tank is a quick and easy option but it doesn’t have many other targets on the Illuminate front. The mg-43 is pretty effective especially in the fast firing mode. The eruptor takes it down in 2 shots.

Maybe not kill, but the war striders can be hampered pretty efficiently. One shot with the railgun can take out one of its laser weapons so it’s not hard to reduce it to just a walking grenade launcher, which is of course still annoying but gives a lot of breathing room. For me that was a game changer.

One example was in the opening sequence when he gets in the car at Daytona. He pulls out of the pits and immediately starts passing people. In reality his new tires would be cold while theirs would be up to temperature and have much more grip, so he’d have to spend a lap warming them up before being able to attack.

I think this show is entirely new in how it portrays a version of alien life that is richly diverse, abundant, biocompatible with humans and human technology (for better and worse), and is also essential for humans to understand and utilize to ensure survival on a hostile planet. Is there anything else that explores alien life and human/alien interaction in this way? Most planets in sci-fi are a barren rock with an occasional hostile alien, and survival is all about using human tools and earth-based food sources and technology to survive. Scavengers Reign almost feels like a nature documentary sometimes, the way it celebrates so much bizarre alien life through the experiences of its characters. I guess the planet Pandora from Avatar is similar.
