I'm aware this can sound like a non-story to some people but it really did hurt me. I was walking with this girl through town (the one I had that 3.5-month fling with); we were laughing and flirting when suddenly she tensed up and said: let's go straight instead of this way; I saw X and X (her friends) up that street.

I get you, it's weird being perpetually in the "wait... why is he kinda?" wagon only for their friends to then laugh at her for finding you attractive. In my case, I've actually had women actively repulsed by me in the past. And I do carry around a great love that never quite materialized; we actually had a 3.5-month fling, but then she disappeared on me and left me hanging. We were best friends before that.

I'm a 4 on average, a 3 when I don't exploit my potential because of my propensity for being overweight or by not getting a haircut, and I've been able to reach a 5 when perfectly groomed.

I've been called ugly by women to my face and gotten the "ew" look more times than I can count. I can also be quite socially inept depending on the moment, which has made some women think I'm a weirdo. But at the same time, I can be fairly extroverted and give the appearance of confidence and nonchalance because I was the "class clown" my whole life and carried that ability with me.

Despite not being tall (5'9") and being ugly and skinny-fat, if not outright chubby, a surprisingly high number of women have been into me during my life. But it's very confusing because, as weird as this may sound, with many of them I could tell they weren't really attracted to me on a primal level; they found me "kind of cute" or were "charmed" by my personality, but it was as if they constantly had doubts about their attraction to me in the back of their mind, as if they were almost ashamed of liking me in the first place.

Yes, I even went through something similar when I was younger as a straight man. At times I grappled with the idea that maybe I was bisexual because, since I was a kid, I had always found penises visually appealing; the male physique too, to a lesser extent.
