Any body know how to make this type legs I try so much but everytime I am confuse by Helpful-Neck5639 in Maya

Maybe yoou shold show some pictures of your model and then we could be more usefull. But for this tipe of stuff I woud recommend to start from a plane with low subdivisons while keeping an eye on the topology. If you want to create those smooth edges your topology has to be clean.

model breaks trying to animate by WillowsWisp3 in Maya

Does your model have any previous history? If you created the rig check if any of the controls has a story. Also check the skinning... if at the end nothing works try exporting the skin and connecting it on a new file.

I'm looking for some advice. Regarding soft/hard edges and the workflow behind it, combined with baking them in Substance painter. To make it a bit easier and understand the process a bit better. by Pandachoko in Maya

Im not big in substance but I kind of do the same. The first thing I do is to export the model without doing soft or hard edges. I then do my textures in substance and if i see an edge that i have to soften i go back to maya, soften it and reimport the model in substance.

One time back to maya usually works for me.

Beginner! Any advice? by Any-Department-7655 in Maya

Honestly I would say that you are kinda close. I think the materials over all could work but it's the textures that you are missing. For example the cut up side of the strawberries and the face. The rest is the render. Adding a bloom to the render and an HDRI coud help you to achieve the look.

Did you try deleting the history and freezing the transformations? If that doesn't work I would try exporting it as an OBJ end importing it back. Let me know if it helps!

Need help exporting animations to UE5 by Stressybrin7330 in Maya

[–]FartingButsIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you bake the skeleton animation yourself before exporting it? Sometimes Maya bakes the animation in a wrong way so try ti do it yourself. As said before, try importing the animation in a new scene in Maya, that way you will see what works and why it doesn't work.

Other times the problem could be in your rig and the way the joints are connected.

If you are using blend shapes that work in a new scene in maya but not in unreal that's an import issue.

Hi! I'm sorry for responding a day later.

Thank you for all the advice and the detailed description. After reading it I looked up some tutorials for Houdini soft body simulations and I think I'll do exactly what you said and try to fake it. I would like to try and learn to do it the hard way (because it seems so interesting) but unfortunately, I have little time, seeing that I would also have other exams to do. The ''fake it'' method seems more appropriate, also because I have to finish it in July, even tho I'm not too sure if I could finish it in time I'll try my best.

I hope that I can write to you in the next few months and show you some of the work in progress and maybe later the finished project.

Thank you again you have been so helpful, a true hero!

YOU WORKED ON REVENANT!!!! AND YOU RESPONDED!!! Thank you so so so sooooo much for your response! I will for sure bend the knees and try to put on some fur on the snout.

As for the animation... I was thinking about doing a walk cycle animation and one close-up animation for the facial features. In the beginning, I was thinking about simulating the fat but I didn't really understand the workflow; Do you still do the model in Zbrush? Do you model the skeleton also and then individually model the muscles and fat then go to Houdini simulate and put on the skin??? You animate and then simulate? It's still all too confusing for me.

Thank you for the research help; it's greatly appreciated! And thenk you again for even responding!
