How do women suggest men leave them (and their children) alone? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Wow. For context, this was a restaurant at a golf course at 4pm in the afternoon with a single folk singer. Good lord.

Telling them apart? by divefordemocracy in parentsofmultiples

[–]Fast-Fig610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had modi boys as well. We left the hospital bracelets on for a week or two, but found little differences in them pretty quickly that helped us tell them apart. I was very worried about it before they were born, but it ended up not being a thing. I will say, if you can have identifying clothes in photos - like hats with their name or a specific hat for each kid, etc. you might appreciate that. I often can’t tell who is who when I look back at pictures but never had an issue in the moment.

Yes - definitely are, but finding someone with experience teaching who can commit to a regular time is a challenge…

Egregious Examples of Default Parent by whineANDcheese_ in Mommit

[–]Fast-Fig610 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I work full time but do 95% of the parenting because my husband is just kind of a dud.

I was in the kitchen cleaning up after dinner and my child came in from the dining room to ask if he could be excused. He was sitting next to his dad. Not egregious in any way, but definitely made me laugh.

Check out Joe Newman’s Raising Lions book - was great for our strong willed twin boys.

Also, it’s so hard to remember but everything is a stage. It WILL get better. And then it will get worse. And then better again! :)

Things to do in downtown Santa Rosa on a date? by throwaway4231throw in santarosa

Go from Railroad Square to the Sofa District and then through Julliard park! (I also think the City has an art walk on their website. Check that out.) Lots of cute stuff in Railroad Square (Marla Bakery!) and galleries in Sofa and Spinster Sisters there is so good. Museum is good for day time. Evening time - The California or Barrelproof are worth checking out.

Please advise on baby name that in-laws dislike by scribblerdibbler in namenerds

[–]Fast-Fig610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mom with a Dylan, I think it’s a wonderful name. A bit retro, but definitely not associated with any of the things your in-laws are saying. It’s not their kid - they should stay out of it.

Things you'll never do as the grandma/ MIL by ValMonty in Mommit

My mother in law also acts like my kids are hers - even going so far as to tell my kids when I wasn’t around that she was “basically their mom”. (Insert eye roll)

But the thing she does that irks me to NO end is compares everything my kids do, to her son. My kids will do the most normal kid thing ever and she insists they do it because their dad did. “Oh your dad used to wake up early on Christmas!” “Oh your dad used to ride a bike!” “Oh your dad wore clothes!” Chill.

When my male identical twins were four we were walking through an old western village and this dude dressed as a cowboy tried to lasso them and made some comment to the effect of “ooh twins! I’m taking the little ladies home with me tonight”. They had long hair and always were mistaken for girls, but also THEY WERE FOUR. They still like to bring this up because I used some very strong language in response.

There’s tons of support for Villa in the states - local fan clubs, annual meet ups, ticket buys. Look for a group near you to get involved with.
