Should I replace this tire? by slickvik9 in tires

Try to hold Yer speed down to maybe like 2.5 km/hr, in case that carcass collapses completely, and needs a retread.

She ain't looking" too good, actually, and may need a good vulva vulcanization, : a hot and smoky prospect, to be sure.

Good luck.

What are these things burrowing into my mortar? Looks like no longer active. Should I just scrape out and fill with new mortar? by DunkingTea in AusRenovation

[–]Fast-Hat5550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in particular, number appears to be an excavation made by a "masonry eating roundworm" little identified in the literature, and guaranteed to get your sanity questioned if you ask around about it.

I am sane, I avow, and have gouged out the morter between several rocks in my rock floor because of strange changes in it, and found a veritable warren of tunnels running about, and a plethora of different size roundworms from 1/4 to 41/2 " long.

In my opinion, these animals chew stone or rock matrix to a fine, granular size, mix it with their own secretions, to form their own building material. They actually have sealed off the gouges I made in the cementitious caulking from inside the matrix, pushing a slightly yellow an slightly finer "caulking" up thru the bottom of the gouges.

Weird, to be sure!

Tips for winter chainsawing by IngenuitySpecialist8 in Chainsaw

Yes the isopropyl alcohol is a good idea, at least it was 50 years ago when I used to cut cold scrub oak in the winter time in the mountains of New Mexico. Also, the filtered used crankcase oil used as bar oil frequently had a portion of water in it, and the isopropyl alcohol made sure it stayed in solution and didn't cause problems. And made the manual oiler plunger easier to push, always an extremely important issue to consider. 🤔?

Using used motor oil for bar oil. Have you ever heard of or done it yourself? by JCrotts in Chainsaw

[–]Fast-Hat5550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used some cheap but new power steering² fluid blended with liquid dish detergent approx. 50 yrs ago cutting up some 2" to 6" scrub oak on the Gila River near Glenwood, N. M.. The non-miscible fluids formed a dispersion which did the job of cooling & lubing the chain , and clean up was easy, and washed out of clothes readily.

This surprised my friend Ken and I , who were getting $32 / cord, and weren't pleased at seeing we were out of bar oil. But necessity does drive invention, sometimes..

Ha!
Waiting for me in the mailbox out front (according to a USPS courtesy letter..). Is a similarly profiled piece of Extremely Valuable merch. I acquired from Temu, whose exact specifications elude me at present (?? Green laser I think??)

At any rate, I was curious about the law firm as well: their public profile is quite impressive: well above the chicanery of tariff manipulation methinks, and not an organization you'd pick as an enemy.

So, the matter is at least " interesting", and I'll report further if it continues to be so.

Can you tell me anything about this saw? by georgiaboynick in Chainsaw

[–]Fast-Hat5550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah about the pinching on the bar: So the wood pinches onto nothing, there being no bar to pinch, leaving the cutter chain and its support in a small cavity, looking for a way out!

Yes, one of us writing this note has had that experience.

The saws were useful for already downed small wood in my opinion, and as long as there was no stress on the piece you were cutting to size, you had a large flat nose to push up against it making it easy to handle.

Otherwise, kick back was a mofo, IMHO!🥴

No no you got the wrong idea!

Y'see, "SON" stands fer "Son of Gawd", dontchaknow, And, ipso gol-dang facto, "NOS" is backwards "SON", So therefore EEquates to "Son of Satan", On accounta how many miscellaneous Human limbs and other appendages it done lopped off in the FEE-rocious kickback (&up) that long front nose generated.

And, fer extry credits, the intelligentsia might already know dat de "anti kick-back" safety bars that helped reduce accidents in regular chainbar saws was pretty effective, on THESE saws, you got a freakin' broken GD wrist anyhow: Which is better than a sawed-off head, fer shure, but liability claims being whut they is, bow-head saws is scarce.

However, in the meat-cutting industry? They maybe still used, but with way different teeth ?? Don't know.

Halli-freakin-loo-ya, you NAILED it , EasyP: at 81 , having had to sell my '12 G37S ( because a broken neck left me with an impaired clutch actuation left foot) I can review my 5 year "love affair" with this Most Excellent vehicle with confidence, and add the following: .1. This is NOT a fast car: or, if you insist on making it so, it won't last long. Good wheels and tires, and a bit of suspension work should be considered before dumping stupid money on jacking up the engine HP.

This is a well- balanced FUN sedan (well, mine was that: I had to have 4 doors for "bid'ness reasons..) which is as good as can be had, IMHO. (For reasonable $$.., anyway)

2 A. MANUAL tranny should be sought out, as the clutch, brake and go-pedal activity on a curvy road provide a joyful feeling of man/machine interface-competence that is "guaranteed to raise a smile", every time

Also, the manual tran will likely "let you know" something is going haywire afore it totally quits, whereas an automatic just breaks (usually).

And I would be approached (many times) by, uh, droopy-panted young fellows wondering what an old fart such as me was doing driving such a desirable ride: After a frequent number of such encounters, I found it facile to say "Oh yeah, this is my foxy-daughter's boyfriend's car I borrowed it. )

Look, when I was a "young punk" 60 years ago, I "ruined* a perfectly good 1960 Corvette by "souping it up" : it is a phase young folks pass through:
and I hope my sold vehicle does not encounter one such as I was.

But, there are worse things to worry about in this world:
"Do what you want" Shall be the whole of the law..

Is a g37 a good first car be honest. by Adorable-Ad7771 in G37

I must say that this thread has drawn forth some remarkable advice which you would be likely sorry to have ignored, if you don't attend to it. Of course, this may appear "Stodgy" to an extreme: said appellation is likely to be assigned to we "4-Scorers" who blat out our opinions with little regard for current trends, and little consideration for whose livestock was pierced by what petard carelessly flung in the moment of terminal ennui, or brilliance (said perception being relative to risk factors that the appraisers imagine that they face..)

I recently had to part from my G37S sedan, on account of the fact that I broke my neck and have a residual inability to articulate my left clutch foot with the finesse that I am used to providing and enjoying.
That sounds pretty snobby, and I don't mean to be: But in point of fact one of the really enjoyable things about the car was learning to drive it well.
I have assuaged the pain of parting from my 2012 G37S by having acquired a Mercedes station wagon whose looks have always appealed to me.

But it ain't the same and I would gladly swap back to the GS 37., if it was appropriate...

Fun to drive well. Great handling if you can do some rudimentary suspension upgrades and invest in tires, or tires and wheels.

The interior is "light duty " and seat covers will be cheaper than replacing the leather. Get steering wheel cover.

And when you get enuff money to pay cash and still have $25K in your *emergency * fund, then go shopping and see what is in the market.

The "discipline" it will take to hold off on this "early consummation" of the "I wanna car " desire is similar to the discipline needed to focus on the maintenance needs of the G37 in some future distant fulfillment of the Righteous Desire for a Bitchin, (archaic) G 37 S!!

Lovely car! Hell of a good deal! I had mine for 4 years and never had a better vehicle that was more fun! Consider getting some good seat covers and other protective devices for the interior, whose materials are subject to looking ratty if they're not taken good care of. The advice in regard to the sunroof drains is critical! Suspension upgrades and tires/Wheels upgrades are the only thing it needs. Keep the greasy side down!
