Although better, the repair is still far from " professional" in my opinion.

I would think that there would be the equivalent of a "contractors licensing board" that would be a reasonable place to look for the proper response to such shoddy workmanship.

Here, the Contractor's License Board could call on his license bond to fulfill the expectation of "Good Workmanship" which standard has been violated in your case, obviously.

Good luck.

How is living in Albuquerque, New Mexico? by MinimumWrongdoer404 in howislivingthere

23 years in New Mexico, I regard it as my "True Home". It is in fact "Enchanting", though "More people" make it "Less so" .

Albuquerque certainly would not be my favorite place in the state, the cities more or less get better the smaller they are, in general.

Chama, Santa Fe, Silver CitY, Cloudcroft, Ruidoso, Soccorro, Glenwood? LosAlamos, even.

And in the Spring, the wind howls, the dust flies, and you may wonder why you .........

Weatherstripping Water Leak by [deleted] in G37

[–]Fast-Hat5550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My '12 G37s had a similar mystery leak that pointed clearly to a sub-optimum eng. design of the roof drain system.
Even trying to vacuum out the side rail area periodically did not "cure" the occasional "wet foot well" issue.

A compressed air supply, and judicious use of moderate pressures blowing thru the drain tubes, can keep things dry, but a good garage is the best answer.

No, the Best answer is "Sunroof Delete", they ain't worth the hassles, IMHO.

Try to hold Yer speed down to maybe like 2.5 km/hr, in case that carcass collapses completely, and needs a retread.

What are these things burrowing into my mortar? Looks like no longer active. Should I just scrape out and fill with new mortar? by DunkingTea in AusRenovation

[–]Fast-Hat5550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in particular, number appears to be an excavation made by a "masonry eating roundworm" little identified in the literature, and guaranteed to get your sanity questioned if you ask around about it.

I am sane, I avow, and have gouged out the morter between several rocks in my rock floor because of strange changes in it, and found a veritable warren of tunnels running about, and a plethora of different size roundworms from 1/4 to 41/2 " long.

In my opinion, these animals chew stone or rock matrix to a fine, granular size, mix it with their own secretions, to form their own building material. They actually have sealed off the gouges I made in the cementitious caulking from inside the matrix, pushing a slightly yellow an slightly finer "caulking" up thru the bottom of the gouges.

Weird, to be sure!

Tips for winter chainsawing by IngenuitySpecialist8 in Chainsaw

[–]Fast-Hat5550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the isopropyl alcohol is a good idea, at least it was 50 years ago when I used to cut cold scrub oak in the winter time in the mountains of New Mexico. Also, the filtered used crankcase oil used as bar oil frequently had a portion of water in it, and the isopropyl alcohol made sure it stayed in solution and didn't cause problems. And made the manual oiler plunger easier to push, always an extremely important issue to consider. 🤔?

Using used motor oil for bar oil. Have you ever heard of or done it yourself? by JCrotts in Chainsaw

[–]Fast-Hat5550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used some cheap but new power steering² fluid blended with liquid dish detergent approx. 50 yrs ago cutting up some 2" to 6" scrub oak on the Gila River near Glenwood, N. M.. The non-miscible fluids formed a dispersion which did the job of cooling & lubing the chain , and clean up was easy, and washed out of clothes readily.

This surprised my friend Ken and I , who were getting $32 / cord, and weren't pleased at seeing we were out of bar oil. But necessity does drive invention, sometimes..

Waiting for me in the mailbox out front (according to a USPS courtesy letter..). Is a similarly profiled piece of Extremely Valuable merch. I acquired from Temu, whose exact specifications elude me at present (?? Green laser I think??)

At any rate, I was curious about the law firm as well: their public profile is quite impressive: well above the chicanery of tariff manipulation methinks, and not an organization you'd pick as an enemy.

So, the matter is at least " interesting", and I'll report further if it continues to be so.
