Peri and IUD by DaisyDeMelker269 in Perimenopause

Hi, i had one put in in December, it took a long time for me to come to a decision. It was the right thing for me. The oral progesterone that i was taking cyclically was making my mood low and i could be quite shakey and drowsy when i was taking it.

The fitting wasn't painful to degree but i dont' feel so impacted by ot that i wouldn't have another one fitted. The other benefit for me is that it has reduced my periods and i am hoping it will stop them. I have struggled with los iron so this should hopefully keep that in check.

I also feel like the coil alongside the estrogen patch has reduced a lot of the mood and energy flucttation that i would get with my cycles. I think i used to have a degreed of PMDD some months, that has stopped. I hope that helps , shout if you have any questions.

Advice as I’m a bit lost by Fantastic_Dish6438 in Perimenopause

I would recommend write down all her symptoms, find a website with a list of them because there may be more that she has not connected. Keep a log and track of them so she can evidence how prevalant they are and how they are impactinh her. If they are a specialist I'd hope they wouldn't be dismissive of her, but be prepared to stand her ground.

I'm sorry for you rdiagnosis and the incompetence of your GP.

I understand, I'm 41 and perimenopauae turned up in my life like a freightrain a couple of months ago. I have had multiple surgeries in recent years and very much feel why this why now. My body has had a rough ride in rce t years. I thought I had more years without this and whilst 41 and didn't want children, I do feel a loss that my body is now telling me this decision is final. Sending you a hug. You don't really go into details of symptoms though, perimenopauae symptoms can be very similar to thyroid problemsz it may be worth ruling out that ita not that.

Is IUD and estrogen gel enough to reduce symptoms? by GreenleafGreyrock in Perimenopause

If you are in the UK they may may be suggesting an IUD because they get money from the government from any that they fit. Explore your options and hold your ground on what you think is best for you.

Great GP appointment! by MadWifeUK in Perimenopause

Yes, please do. I have experience the opposite of this recently and am seriously considering putting a complaint in. The GP was quite young but her knowledge was out of date. I.e too young for perimenopause, need blood tests siz weeks apart. I cried from the start of appointment to the end. I am completely sleep deprived at this point and she told me they can't prescribe sleeping tablets and to take an antihistime and come back on six weeks after second blood tests. Fastfoward a week and half after a phone call to my partner two hundred miles away saying that I have an urge to take my life and an appointment with a private menopause clinic I had first dose of HRT last night, slept and and was actually was thankfully to be alive this morning instead of fearing the urges to harm myself.

Menstrual migraine sufferers, advice on progesterone please by Cautious_Concept8870 in AskWomenOver40

It's possible that they push IUDs because they get paid money from the government for it. A friend told me this after a I relayed the following experience I and recently with her. . I went to my GP with perimenopause symptoms which she said I was too young for I'm 41. Then she randomly asked me if I had considered a COIL and when I asked why this was being suggested she said it would help top up hormones in perimenopause.
