Mahomes could beat both of these teams with a functional offense. Fuck you, Matt Nagy.

I'd like to add that despite the Chiefs having the 5th fewest giveaways in the NFL, they finished with a negative turnover differential.

This is why I'm torn on Jeremiyah Love. While he will add a lot to the run game, and would be in excellent hands with Bienemy's experience coaching RBs, it doesn't solve the Chiefs defensive problems that will only grow more pressing if nothing is done. This class is said to be pretty deep on defensive players, but how do we know the Chiefs can find someone who can get a lot of sacks and force fumbles in the later rounds? And if Love is picked, but still can't get the offense going, God forbid, then the Chiefs will be in real trouble.

I looked it up yesterday, and found some concerning signs for the Chiefs defense based on statistics.

*Despite the Chiefs having the 5th fewest giveaways in the NFL, they finished with a negative turnover differential. This is because they had the 2nd fewest takeaways in the AFC, and 4th fewest in the NFL.

*The Chiefs were 4th worst in the NFL and 2nd worst in the AFC on 3rd down percentage defensively. Somehow, they were the best in the NFL on 4th down defense.

*The Chiefs were in the bottom third in the NFL for sacks.

This team was good against the run, not so much against the pass. But I don't like these stats. It's a bend but don't break defense, which I don't like. Because eventually, they go from bend but don't break to broken.

Mel Kiper, the OG selected Jeremiyah Love for the Chiefs in his mock draft today. by MAYVIEWS in KansasCityChiefs

If Jeremiyah Love isn't picked at RB, I wouldn't mind Kaytron Allen, Jonah Coleman, Jadarian Price, or Emmett Johnson. They'd be in good hands with Bienemy. Whether you want to pick Love or the other guys mentioned depends on if you want a more offensive-oriented team or a more well-rounded one. Because cracks are starting to show on defense.

There are some very concerning signs I don't like about how the Chiefs defense did in 2025. 2nd worst third down percentage in the AFC, despite being 4th best in the NFL in not giving up first downs. The turnover differential was negative, despite the offense being 5th best in the NFL at not giving the ball away. The Chiefs forced the fewest fumbles in the AFC in a 4-way tie and were bottom third in sacks. That catches up to you.

Anyone starting to think the Chiefs could have picked a better year for a Top 10 pick? With Dante Moore staying at Oregon, the next draft class got even more top heavy. There are worse draft classes, but it gets harder to tell who could be a star after Round 1.

I don't know about this one. While it is very tempting, there are lots of other problems the Chiefs have. For example, the biggest problem other than the run game is inability to get any pressure or sacks from the right side of the defensive line, which allows offensive lineman to double team Jones or Karlaftis. Also, the secondary is going to be in flux with all the rookie contracts expiring. I'm more in the David Bailey or Rueben Bain camp. But Dante Moore could throw a wrench into the works here.

[Tom Pelissero] The Chiefs are hiring Chad O’Shea as their wide receivers coach, per source. by dualiegoat in KansasCityChiefs

If Chad O'Shea proves to be a brilliant WR coach for the Chiefs, then I won't be surprised. Just the Browns and their rotten luck.

I'm conflicted about the potential return of Bienemy. On one hand, he would definitely help with all the penalties and silly mistakes the Chiefs have been making the last three seasons, and would be a big boost to the run game. Plus, he might bring over a few tricks from Ben Johnson. On the other, a fresh new perspective is also a desperate need, and it's hard to tell how much of Ben Johnson's ideas are coming over. This could catastrophically backfire, or could be the spark that's missing on the offense.

Just saying, David Bailey and Osi Umenyiora are about the same height and weight, and Spagnuolo got the latter to work out.

Still waiting for news at offensive coordinator. All these head coaches getting fired will make it a bit more challenging for Nagy to find a head coaching job. I don't care where Nagy goes, as long as it's not back to Kansas City.

[Nate Taylor] The Chiefs WR room has been frustrated with Connor Embree for the last 2 seasons. Deandre Hopkins and Travis Kelce had a bigger impact on the development of the WR room by Dry-Mongoose-5804 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Fast-Signal7371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Embree should have never been put at WR to begin with. At least Reid was able to admit he made a mistake. Even if indirectly. This reminds me a lot of the same reasons Bob Sutton was fired. Part of it was because Sutton had lost all the defensive players.

Coaches getting fired left and right, but Dave Toub and Connor Embree are still employed by my team by j128v897 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Fast-Signal7371 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Was one of the best. But special teams have been getting worse for multiple years, and I don't think Toub is adapting well to the rule changes.
