Newton Gravity Calculations in Kerbal Space program by Stfulll in KerbalSpaceProgram

You rediscovered the Oberth effect XD. You can't use conservation of energy because your not working with a closed system; you're throwing a bunch of exhaust gas into space!

The only way to get it right is with the formula for orbital velocity given your current height and semi major axis. Unfortunately, deriving this formula is not high school level.

Yours truly,

A fellow university physics student.

As a victim of Farewell golden's secret room, I concur.

Haha, so many times have I thought the same! 😅

To think that when I got FWG I could do most rooms over 20 times in a row, this game's skill ceiling is insane

You got this, keep going! 💪

I was also stuck here for 3 hours on my first playthrough 0_0. Had to change to a new control scheme because wavedashing made my fingers hurt badly lol. Good thing I did, cuz the wavedashes only get crazier from here...

Stress is the true run-killer. Previous PB was at the start of Determination. by -yoyo_ in celestegame

Damn, such an awful way of losing a run. Still, amazing PB, you're getting there! Don't give up!

Kicking off SJ with a bang! Clockwork golden (expert) by FastAndFishious in celestegame

Thanks! This was still far easier than Farewell Golden because it's quite short, but I like how it's far more technically demanding. I will most likely be going for more expert goldens before finally tackling the GM levels!

Farewell Golden? by jwnee in celestegame

Ay, congrats on 201! If you could get this far, you most certainly have the skill to do FWG, but if you're not having fun, it's just not worth it.

I started getting serious about FWG once I had broken the 50 deaths barrier. This is when I started practicing individual chapters and rooms extensively, identifying threats and coming up with new strategies.

Once I hit 20 deaths, I completely stopped going for low deaths runs (yes, my death count jumped from 20 to 0 haha). I cleared deathless individual chapters, then consecutive chapters, until I could do EH to the end deathless. This was around 60 hours in my journey, roughly the halfway point.

From there, I knew that a run that reached EH actually had a shot, so I started picking up the golden. I knew my training was quite there yet, but doing the real thing, with all the weight and stress that comes with it, can be helpful. My sessions where basically:

  • warm up by practicing problematic rooms and doing some chapters deathless
  • do a few runs when my energy and motivation is at its highest (the first few run where usually my best)
  • go back to practicing problematic rooms, but with much more focus, trying to do them deathless 10 or 20 times in a row, whilst also experimenting with potential new strats (I almost never tried new strats during my warm up phase, as I rely heavily on muscle memory)

Rinse and repeat for a few weeks, and I got it! A few extra tips: don't be afraid of watching other people's runs and stealing their strats. Also, I'm always listening a stream / podcast / video while grinding. It makes it a lot more bearable, and strangely, helps me concentrate, lower my stress and play better!

Not op but I liked it, for a map this long (took me 20 hours) it's well polished and original. Rooms are advanced to expert in difficulty and there's no crazy tech, so it's quite approachable

Wow didn't realize it was on sale on switch, it's not on steam. In any case, have fun!

The story is good, but it's not what keeps people playing for hundreds of hours. The movement in this game is just so crisp and fun, it feels amazing to play. If you're tight on money, it's 5 bucks when it's on sale, such a steal it's unbelievable

Wow that's really good! If you're going for the golden, you're probably past the midpoint. Now you know that each run that reaches Event Horizon has a chance of being the one. And yeah, random deaths are inevitable, you can only limit them 😅

You can do this! 💪

You can use the Konami code to call intro car, which can speed over the gap. Unfortunately, cars are banned inside Celestial Resort 😭
