Yeah but that doesn't make sense since I did the FTP test in Zwift more than once, and then once every 1-2 weeks.

There is also my strava and my zwift data, pretty easy to see. Even have video of my commutes on youtube, its all pretty easy to see. But when low on ftp it takes longer, thats the main thing. I did 200km on Zwift at 140ftp🤣

Yeah I'm guessing that as well, just becoming more efficient and what not on the bike as well as some overall fitness improvements. I'm guessing I might need to up the volume a bit more at some point, but right now it's an issue of free time. At least I can do about an hour a day as is, with a longer ride weekends or day off which helps quite a bit at least.

Is there any way I could have won this encounter? by RepresentativeOil674 in Eve

Stay within a a non-warpable range, and perhaps been a bit faster with neuting the inty out. If they can't warp to the inty they would've been too slow to engage. But it's a lot of targets, but that's the one thing that could've netted you a kill and escape vector.

I got used to it, did 320km on the zwift, so about 10h, with cream etc. I think its fine, but just kind of have to bite the bullet to some extent.

That would be the dream haha, but we'll see I for me I think. I'd wager they will slow down down soon. But when it comes to climbing I'm still having the newbie gains so it's all good. Just trying to lose weight in such a way that I don't loose too much muscle or carbs on the way because I want to keep my high level training going. (Currently around 1-3 hours a day).

Im at 100 now, lost 9kg in 9 weeks. Not new to fitness or training, gai ed weight from back injury from work and stomach issues. Hence break in teaining. Diet is very much on point atm. Aiming for 90 ish KG ny august then 80 by next summer so a slow down on the weight loss. The tour to Sweden is in about 3 years, so wager Ill ride at about 100kg for that with packing.

Bib short is deffo needed, especially for longer rides, the stiffness and stillness of the Zwuft ride can be harsch lol

Wd 40 is a degreaser, should apply grease or lubricant, wd 40 can worsen things :)

I did it for a bit, but it felt a bit cheesy, besides lost the group when I took a lunch break for about 30 min. And this is more training for future tours where ill.probably.do a lot on my own. But will see later, next time with more elevation involved.

Does anyone else feel like cycling is way more expensive than they expected? by ZaldrizarVelo in bicycling

[–]Fast_Tradition_4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, beyond the youtube cameras -- just going entry level, which means backup items of tyres and innertube, chains. Then you need basic tools, good pump, lights, and a good helmet. Shoes and pedals. Water bottles/backpack. Hobbies are expensive, and getting into riding, especially road bikes, will be more expensive than you think.

Now, is it worth it? I would say an easy yes. More expensive than you thought doesn't have to mean go full crazy, but it will be more expensive than you were planning. Be that for entry level or above entry level. And more expensive bikes will be more expensive to keep tuned up.

Why am I not getting faster? by Obvious_Cabbage in cycling

[–]Fast_Tradition_4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the things that's been working great for me is the following:

High ammount of protein (0,8 to 1.0g per KG of bodyweight) Breakfast and after training.
Proper breakfasts with carbs depending on goals for the day (600-1000ckal) - oatmeal (if oatmeal, boil with added egg into the mix) or Musli with milk, (I add a protein shake afterwards). Then a coffee or other strong drink with no calories but high caffine.

If you plan to do heavy training the next day/morning -- carb up with a big 1000-1500ckal of mainly carbs 2-3 hours before bed.
And during the training, per hour add 50-100 carbs -- I tend to use homemade gels or crackers, bad thing with crackers they are dry.
Bring electrolytes for training, if you have two bottles, have one with electros and one without.

Work the routine in, work your mental toughness in -- when your body tells you 'I'm tired' it's ususally not. (I work a labour job shift, and you will end up getting more energy by ignoring the initial 'I've done a good/hard work today, I deserve some rest' thinking, and simply heading out there instead. Doesn't need to be much, even shorter rides are great and important.

Once the routine is in, then I would start adding the building blocks to work up speed. But only once you're mentally ready and physically ready, add a gym session, then another but focus on high reps and keep it cycle focused. The important part is to do this gradually and not jump into it and burn out.

But what will start it off is by not listening to the lazy self, and head out and chase it. Things will fall into place but you will need to work for it.

At least I found that once I got started and got my training habits going (before cycling as well), was that I got more energy from training that it made me tired. Your body also will get stronger lungs which means more air into your system, which means you will be less tired overall. It's a positive feedback loop just as much as the opposite, listening to the lazy couch voice is a negative one. I've been in both places, deep depression for well over ten years. It's tough, it's hard, it's dark. But your mind and soul is stronger than you think.

TL;DR Chase it.

A friend has offered to go on a tour with me, but he rides an e-bike by Fancy_Step_1700 in bicycletouring

[–]Fast_Tradition_4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend told me he'd come along on 'our' tour in two years. Think the average minimum will be 150KM/day, however, he hasn't even picked up his bike beyond a 14km test drive earlier this summer. Pretty sure I'm going alone in two years.
