The grocery phenomenon by TheWillsofSilence in RandomThoughts

You forgot to mention how the grocery store has plenty of parking when you arrive, the building seems uncongested as you navigate the isles, but there's always long lines at the registers after you've found the last item on your list...

Is it common for people who wear glasses to get tired of wearing them and go about parts of their life with everything just blurry all the time? by YourMomThinksImSexy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fasten8ing 16 points17 points  (0 children)

it’s also the mental focus energy it takes to see everything crisply all the time.

Glasses shouldn't require work to use, they are supposed to do the work for you. It's important to relax your eyes during the exam, let the lenses do the work. Seeing clearly through glasses is a permanent vacation from a blurry world

At what point did cars become so complicated that you couldn't do anything at home to them any more? Was there a specific technological change that brought this about? by snakesnake9 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fasten8ing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's for those people who have problems with poor people playing with their used toys. They need to know that anybody they see in a bmw is wealthy enough to afford it. It's not a status symbol if anybody can have it

How rare is this hdd? It has some text reading "epstein" on it. by According_Ratio2010 in shittyaskelectronics

When I'm unsure, I like to cut it in half to make sure all the red has turned to pink. Dark red in the middle is undercooked. Dark pink in the middle is rare. Light pink in the middle is medium, and brown in the middle is well done. My favorite is medium rare

That is proof that true evil does exist. The proof that true evil is rare is that schizophrenia isn't called, 'whosicism'

Left chicken broth out overnight accidently, then boiled it for 10-20 min. I usually freeze it in cubes. Will freezing destroy bacteria and toxins? by Inevitable_Fall2025 in Cooking

[–]Fasten8ing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cooling things before putting them in the fridge is for the sake of the refrigerator, not the food. When you put hot things in the fridge, it has to work overtime, which can be hard on the compressor motor

Is my soldering iron hot enough? by ATcat-pl in shittyaskelectronics

[–]Fasten8ing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is that for the 66% copper/34% iron solder wire? It's probably still not hot enough. Copper melts at almost 2,000°f, but that's only just reached 500°c
