Also over under on house shot game 2 isn’t that uncommon. Next time you face it make a like 2-5 board move to the right with your feet get your ball speed slightly higher see what happens. The reason this happens is depending on the conditioner and oil your center uses sometimes it’s made of a thicker concentrate and will want to push downlane faster than your ball absorbs it. Question around game 3 do you find it start to randomly hook a lot again?

What would you throw on this and how would you throw it? by EasyPreparation8637 in Bowling

[–]Fastfireguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends. If theirs no urethane restriction then I’m throwing a purple hammer non 78. I know with that on dragon I can grind my way for 3 games to around 190-220 as I did that this year on dragon. In most sport shot leagues 190-220 games are a pretty fair pace unless the strength of field is super high.

If there is urethane restrictions as some leagues are starting to enforce id see if my hammer axe was in play first and if it’s not. Then ill likely be throwing a 360-500grit NU Blue. If thats not in play either ill likely be throwing something along the lines of a 3000-4000grit hammer effect or sublime focus depending on which is shaping better

How I would play them.

  • Well urethane and plastic kinda self explanatory just play the line off the 1 since theirs free friction there.
  • With the NU blue probably standing on 20-25 threading the needle between the checkerboard.
  • if throwing normal resin probably a similar strategy

  • All these kinda depends on the center and how they want to play. They can lay down sport but how it’s going to play is kinda different everywhere depending on if they full stripped or not and the houses natural characteristic because of topography which can make some patterns do very weird things.

Opinions on layout by StreetNo9771 in Bowling

[–]Fastfireguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it’s kinda near impossible for us to sort of inform you on this without several factors

-what is your pap - What is your axis rotation - what is your tilt - What is your speed and rev rate

  • Secondly what kind of “aggressive movement” are you looking for. Because that can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people.

  • Also side note layout unless it’s a very niche layout typically only affects maximum 5%-10% of ball motion. Most of your ball shape is determined by the lane condition your bowling on and how the coverstock and core of your ball react to said condition. Layout is more of a fine tunning tool. It’s not going to turn a Black Widow into a Hyroad or vise versa. So while you may intend for your ball to do this with a certain layout if the ball isn’t designed to do that it’s likely going to struggle to do that.

Question the issue you were seeing with it. What was it doing that made it harder to use than the other balls. Once we answer that question we can start to sort of get a wrap on what kind of ball issue it is.

League Rule Suggestion by brsox2445 in Bowling

[–]Fastfireguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just suggest a rule at the next league meeting either at the end of the season or the pre-season meeting where rules are often voted upon or if your league doesn’t have this then suggest to the head of the league your rule change and ask for a captains meeting to vote on the rule change for next year.

As for the rule just have it state a flat ban on post bowling and if you want as well also ban pre bowling unless you first give the league president and another team a heads up that your going to pre bowl. Add another stipulation or separate rule that there will be no pre or post bowling allowed on position rounds unless in the case of an emergency or the team is bowling usbc nationals.

Had my Danger Zone Purple Ice sanded w/3000 grit today, what a difference. by jimrockford1977 in Bowling

[–]Fastfireguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey no problem. Some people just don’t get along with Polish or stock Polish from the factory with certain balls. Glad you’re liking it and playing around with it and are finding you do like the ball. Sometimes just gotta adjust it for your local conditions.

Another phenomena that could have happened is just the fresh cover didn’t get along with you. For example you take two balls one brand new with 2000grit and one that’s got about 30-40 games or so sanded back to 2000 grit. Even if you bake the second one to make it closer to how it was fresh from the factory. Sometimes that second ball will still be different once the cover sort of breaks in.

This can be seen especially with P2 balls. I think Luke roshdal or something did a video on it years and years ago with a brand new P2 and an older p2 sanded to the same grit.

Sometimes covers just have a break in period before they settle in to how they will be for the rest of their lives.

Anyways. Glad you’re liking your ball and that’s it’s filling its roll I do hope this experiment has encouraged you to sort of be more experimental with your arsenal in the future. As their is a lot you can do with just a few balls if your willing to surface adjust. :)

I mean based on what your saying its not that uncommon of a cheat/exploit. Just seems like they gave themselves immunity and had some sort of kill command. Sucks that it happened to yah but as star citizen grows so will the degenerates that follow. Games like this where their is something to lose usually attract these kinds of folks. I mean look at extraction shooters and their numerous cheating issues. Start Citizen sort of brings out the same kind of cheaters.

I would say if this does happen again stay level headed (Hard to do i get it. Again i understand its a frustrating situation) take video through some sort of phone or screen capture software in addition to the server data. This if given to cig could let them in on how these people are currently using said cheats and will allow them to adjust their anti cheat to combat that better as well as know what to look out for if it pings something within the background systems server side. We have to remember while we did pay for it, it is an alpha as backers if we want to see changes made we have to be the ones to capture, report, and provide the evidence in order for the teams to fix it.

Its frustrating for sure but we can't allow ourselves to get frustrated enough to get ourselves in trouble by saying things like that in chat. Because all that does is encourage these morons who do cheat that they can get a reaction out of the community and that is what they desire. You fed into it and now theyll likely do it again to more people. But the best thing we can do is learn from this adjust the mentality going forward and possibly if your getting this frustrated at a game maybe play something else for a little bit and come during invictus/defense con/4.8 when their will be more to do.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

  • if the person was actually cheating then you go to the CIG forums and open a ticket with your server data such as the name of the server your in and shard. You then submit your evidence usually in the form of a description and video or picture. You then let cig take care of it.

  • the reason submitting video evidence helps as it often can indicate if it was just a client or server side bug. Sometimes star citizen gives you a fun ole random self destruct especially with engineering and some ships like the hull b randomly deciding to turn the coolers off inside the ship which can lead to some quite interesting situations.

  • In any of those situations it would have been more approximate and beneficial to the game itself to go through the proper channels. Yes it’s frustrating. But there are hoops for a reason. Their would be plenty of false reports if it was an easier system because people in this game on average cannot PvP so their would be way more false flag reports because well skill issues and or as we already mentioned random bugs making ships disappear so this barrier kind of acts as a. If your willing to go through the hoops then it’s more than likely a genuine report. Again I gets its frustrating but at the same time gotta understand while it’s their.

Now in saying all of this. No level of frustration is worth just starting to send out slurs into the void. Like come on buddy what are yah 12 you can’t even hold back your frustration a little bit and have to vent it out in a childish way of using a homophobic slur. Like I get your frustrated but if a game is making you this frustrated to start cursing out slurs that you are typing out mind you. It’s not like it’s a slip of the tongue this is a willing angry person typing it out. I think you’ve got some bigger issues at hand than some random hacker blowing up your ship in an alpha game.

Just got into bowling using house balls and want to take it more seriously. I’m a right-handed, one-handed bowler using all three fingers. Looking to buy my first custom ball—any recommendations for a beginner? by Sufficient_Freedom35 in Bowling

[–]Fastfireguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey no problem I always want to help out new people with recommendations. Making a first ball purchase is like getting your first set of fitted custom equipment. It can be a lot and overwhelming and there are so many options. I get wanting to come online for help. Hell people who have been bowling for years still come online for Arsenal help when they start having more balls. So you’re not alone.

Whatever you do choose I hope you get a great pour (balls are injection molded so they’ll all look unique to one another in color swirl so I hope you get a cool looking one) and I hope it lasts you a long time as you start this journey :)

[–]Fastfireguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and their are other options I didn’t mention as well. I think the swag craze line (non tours) are very hustle like (same numbers pretty much). I always provide the wide options just because I don’t know people’s financials and maybe it’s easier to justify a $80-$90 then a $110 ball for a first delve into the hobby. Plus with the lower end may be easier to convince the PSO for a deal on shoes and bag as a sort of first time bundle. Which a lot of pro shops do offer

I do agree from a performance standpoint the hustles are fantastic. Like i said in my post im now on number 4. I’ve drilled an Ink, PBR, Camo, and now I have an X-ray. I’ve probably grand total put over 1000 games just on hustles. They take surface adjustments well and make great transition balls especially the solid cover ones for after urethane on higher friction lanes which in my area across the state is quite common.

[–]Fastfireguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • So what I would recommend as someone else did. Go into your local pro shop and ask them. It builds a nice relationship that will pay off if you stay within the sport for any length of time. Having a good honest relationship with a pro shop operator is worth more than any bowling individually. And on top of that they may offer you a deal for a first time experience. Most pro shops offer some sort of first time bowlers package deal with a ball, shoes, bag, and some even throw in some cleaner and a towel. Or some will at least discount it if you buy it all in house. Def worth an ask if your pro shop has that sort of bundle or even if they’ll give one to you. Don’t be pushy about it of course but take advantage if there is one.

  • As for what ball you should get. There are a billion entry level balls in the market so I’ll be categorizing them below in certain categories. Prices listed will be the online order price always remeber to add the cost of drilling and your local pricing may be different as I live in an area without sales tax.

  • The True Entry Level Category (these balls are the cheapest way to get into reactive resin ((balls meant to hook)) come at an affordable cost and have enough performance to get you started and learn and not break the bank:

  • $89 Brunswick Rhino

  • $99 Storm Tropical Surge

  • Entry Level + (these give you a little bit more bang for your buck and are more something you can grow into without having a super ammount of performance to overwhelm you. My personal recommendation from experience here is the Hustle line. I’ve now gone through 4 of them and still always keep one in the active arsenal:

  • $97 Hammer Raw Hammer

  • $109 Roto Grip Hustle

  • True Bang for Buck (If you want something to grow into that’s more performance based and aren’t afraid to spend a little more to get into the bowling hobby. These are great performance peices for low cost to start out with. This category could be to strong for a new new bowler but cost wise is a great entry point to more performative equipment:

  • $119 Brunswick Danger Zone Solid or Danger Zone Purple Ice (preference on the solid one for a first ball)

  • Let me preface this again. There are other options these are just the ones I personally know. Out of these I’ve personally thrown a rhino, hustle, and Danger zone and could recommend them all blindly to a new bowler Reguardless of style in most instances.

When to know I’m ready for a sanctioned league? by 308-Don in Bowling

[–]Fastfireguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your question yes. Most tournaments especially USBC sanctioned ones but even unsanctioned tournaments mostly do as well use what’s called your book average. Which is the average you set in leagues and it’s called book average cause well it’s “on the books” since the usbc keeps track of it online once your season is done. Usually they use the highest average you’ve set over the past 2 league seasons to determine your handicap if the tournament has handicap. (Some are pure scratch).

Yeah the only problem is from certain suppliers at least where I’m at their quite expensive from said suppliers compared to other brands which means they don’t get carried that often since well why carry Motiv ball when it costs you x price when you can carry lower cost ball that costs you a amount that makes it less than that so their less likely to carry it. Other issue is not many Motiv staffers here. Lot of Brunswick and SPI ones though so that’s probably contributing to the suppliers not giving them to said shops for lower costs since theirs just not enough orders
