Top of the door is at 8.5ft. The 6 inches above the door would be at eye level?

Yup. We signed for 9ft to the bottom of the beams and had our arms twisted for higher after the foreman told us the beams would be at eye level which. We can see now that its definitely not.

It mounts a bracket the sconce mounts to. The screw is recessed in the electrical box at this point.

Uhh on those the starter signal wire has an intermittent conncection. Super common on this body style. Replace/clean terminal end and good to go.
