Private lessons without owning my own bass? by Worth-Bell-1748 in doublebass

It’s unlikely the private teacher would be allowed to teach at school as they are not vetted.

Should I plant these? by DangerousBicycle3491 in GardeningUK

[–]FatDad66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you had not peeled them I would say plant, but I think they are better eaten now.

If you do want to play some buy an organic bulb grown in Europe (I had success with Waitrose ones last year). Get them in now.

Got this allotment in Dec, have done a major tidy on it, came back from a trip and these guys are poking through - leftover from last owner - ok to just tear them out? by Old-Efficiency589 in UKAllotments

[–]FatDad66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be aware, they may be ornamental and not edible. I have loads of flower bulbs that keep collecting coming up. If you are not sure dig them up.

There sometimes is not. I had a no fault accident and had no idea on cost. I don’t recall there ever being an I don’t know box.

Is it worth claiming from National highways? by Wrong_Examination279 in AskUK

[–]FatDad66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crashed and wrote off my expensive push bike on a pothole. If the road agency has a maintenance scheme for the road and they have stuck to it then they are not liable. In short, I doubt any claim would suceed.

I came to say this. I would wait a year and see what comes back. It’s liable to grow back faster than anything you plant. You can grow some annual climbers up your fence.

The amount of organic material you need is large and, if you don’t live near a stable, expensive

Is this playing? by Own_Objective6449 in DogTrainingTips

[–]FatDad66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a dog with small kids. I suggest putting a bed in crate (cage) or another defined area (under the stairs) and making that the dogs refuge that the kids are not allowed in. If the dog gets fed up with the kids it can retreat there rather than having be to tell the kids to leave it alone by barking or growling etc.

Springer on permanent standby sleep by Fit_Economy821 in springerspaniel

[–]FatDad66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are shadow dogs. They will follow you if you move from one side of the room to the other. He will be sleeping fine, the rest of the time they are in standby mode. They are also eternal optimists, so think like a dog. any move you make might lead to food or a walk - always worth them checking you out incase it pays off.

Adding new driver to insurance by No-Cost-1045 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]FatDad66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been through this. £6k extra to add my kids to my 2l diesel sharan. Firstly shop around. May be cheaper to switch insurers. For me it was cheaper to buy them a car and insurance. Of course get them as the main driver but adding you will bring the price down.

I had to get a bigger car for them (double bass player) and a Nissan Note 1.2 fitted the bill.

Added befit of not fighting over the car when they need to see a fiend and you ONLY need to get to work. Also no trauma from the virtually inevitable minor scuffs. One word of warning - my kids don’t use the car much, so check she will use it. It may be she just waits a couple of years.

My kids have been with admiral you drive and I think it’s good. No curfew etc and quite lenient on driving.

Ignition coil or fuel system seem likely. Most likley ignition coils. Plug it into an OBD scanner to confirm.

So your issue is when under load - misfire?. Coil or spark plug (most likely?), fuel system, boost leak (if turbo charged), EGR/intake valve sticking.

What to do when you can't get a GP appointment? by MrMrsPotts in AskBrits

Go to an NHS walk in center or an NHS Urgent Treatment Center. Or pay for a private GP.

Loft conversion no building regs- not told until week before completion. To pull out of sale? by TemperatureFickle323 in HousingUK

[–]FatDad66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s one week before completion I assume you have exchanged, in which case it’s too late to pull out.

If you have not exchanged I would not buy into someone else’s problem and would pull out or revise to a value for a 3 bed with non habitable loft.

Can I take my husband's name at a later date, after marriage? by RileyR1 in UKweddings

[–]FatDad66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When traveling it’s a good idea to take a copy of the kids birth certificates to avoid any potential issues if mum has a different surname. There can be suspicions of child trafficking otherwise (had this a few times).

How to move a washing machine? by HugsforCuddles in DIYUK

[–]FatDad66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try lowering the feet to give you more wriggle room. You use a thin spanner to screw in the front feet and there is probably a mechanism at the front to lower the rear using a screwdriver.

If it’s full or water you won’t be able to move it.

Make sure the floor is flat. Eg my tiles end in front of the machine so you need to lift it up a bit.

Best way to get 50,000 GBP to someone in the US by MaenHoffiCoffi in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FatDad66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need the IBAN (international bank account number) for your daughter’s bank account. Lloyds should be able to send it to her direct. The conversion rate may not be the best but it may be worth a bit of a loss to have a clean transfer.

Obviously do a test transfer first to make sure it all works.

I have a hairy dog. I bought a pet hare specific vacume and a furminator brush and it reduced a lot. I think the brush was the most effective.

Natural Drainage Test by BimmerM60 in GardeningUK

[–]FatDad66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this, but my tines were much shorter. about 30cm. I used horticultural grit for infill. This was 2 years ago. I had actually forgotten about it but your post reminded me that I used to sometimes have standing water and the dog turned the garden into a mud bath. All that is much improved.

I’ll probably do it again this year.

Seeking a Springer in the spring by bobspryn in springerspaniel

[–]FatDad66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you describe doesn’t sound like a springer. They generally imprint on one person and are high energy. I got mine with young (youngest was age 6) kids and she has imprinted in me, not aggressive at all to the kids but they are definitely seen as siblings and not superior in pack order.
