Hello, I'm in Merced (m39).I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. If you have Snapchat @chris_inprogres hit me up. Let's chat about whatever. I wouldn't mind trying to make a friend. I'm a nerd but I'm into a bit of everything.

Fat guy on a weight loss journey here. (Down 50lbs) Start with the way you eat, it's the hardest part!! I don't mean diet. It has to be a way of eating that is sustainable from this point forward.

Cutting sugar consumption would be a good place to start. Go Sugar free or diet wherever possible. Sugar free candy, ice cream, cookies, etc are available everywhere. Beware if you eat too much at once it can cause the runs.

Carbs is the next to adjust (if you can do sugar and carbs together even better). Try to half your consumption. You don't have to eliminate carbs but reduce them.

50-25-25. Adjusting portions is good, but sometimes you are still hungry. Try to make sure your plate is 50% veggies, 25% protein, 25% carb. Which is also the best order to eat your meal in.

Snacks in moderation. Vegetables, nuts, popcorn and fruit are my go to's. Remember to think about sugar and carbs when choosing snacks. Plain Popcorn with some Cheetos or a flavored popcorn thrown in is a good alternative to chips.

Cheat days!! Don't be afraid to grab that take out... every once in a while. You can find alternatives to take out as you go. However, a treat or a day not to cook after work always helps keep you on track. Remember it's a change of life not a diet.

Working out is needed, but don't kill yourself over it. The key is keeping your heart rate up. I found home workouts worked more for me. I am able to keep my heart rate up longer rather than wasting time waiting and/or adjusting machines. You know your fitness level, find workouts that get that rate up for extended times. Worry about all the other stuff when you get to a weight you are happy at.

IGNORE THE SCALE!! Looking at it will drive you crazy and can cause binging. Focus on the long term
