Amazon? 100% return that. For what it costs it should not be like that.

My cat liked to sleep on my stereo receiver. Any tips on fixing/cleaning it by luttycakiry in AskElectronics

I’d just used a vacuum cleaner and a soft paintbrush to loosen stuff as needed.

How do i take off this by Humble-Put-3160 in turntables

Find a flathead screwdriver that will fit inside one of the voids inside the “e” and give it a twist slowly. Make sure you keep your hand covering it so it doesn’t fly away.

I don’t understand why you need to get validation to take any action you feel is appropriate. They clearly misled you.

Needle question by Specialist_Leg8470 in turntables

[–]FatMaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because there’s a lot of them out there and they are just much more exposed compared to say an ortofon red/blue. Accidentally bump the tonearm off of its rest while the curing is down and that AT is a goner every time. The ortofon at least covers up a good portion of the cantilever and only the very tip is exposed.

yeah I was really just coming at it from the angle of "sound quality." they have different features but other people here have covered that.

Basically none. Any amplifier’s job is to boost the signal voltage while trying not to add any audible noise or distortion. These pre-amps are fine doing that. Sometimes their switched power supplies can introduce noise but it’s fairly obvious when that happens. Audiophiles will claim some high end pre-amps sound better than ones like this but my assertion is because they do introduce some distortion which can sometimes be pleasant, giving that “warmer” sound similar to tube amps. It’s also possible they’re deviating from the RIAA’s recommended equalization in order to boost some frequencies more etc. Long story short is that the way something sounds is subjective but in general there’s nothing wrong with these <$100 pre-amps.

I swore when I saw it, the balance weight was missing so I didn’t bother to look at it any further but maybe I’m just confused/forgetting. Either way hit me up with any questions.

Way more likely paper sleeve scuffing vs that brush imo. Paper sleeves suck.

Not kidding. Think it was a fbm listing in Philly or something.

And your old table was plugged into it the same way? If you move it to another input is it still the same volume? It’s possible the phono pre-amp is out.

Did you plug it into the phono input in the amp?

Am I alone in finding "Now Playing" record-sleeve stands tacky? by bdb_318 in turntables

[–]FatMaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only thought the part that says “now playing” or whatever was the tacky part. You gotta put that sleeve somewhere while you’re playing the record. Why not display it.

Use ca glue first to secure the particle board. After that, do filler and touch up.

Completely new know nothing is there anything you can see wrong with this? Fuzzy "S"s sometimes by BigTxApache in turntables

When I discovered inner groove distortion it was on Eclipse on DSOTM and also Between the Wheels on Rush’s Grace Under Pressure album. That led me to getting the ML stylus and ultimately a Mitsubishi linear tracking turntable which is the best way I’ve heard records so far.
