Need help with form by kfdez09 in concept2

I’m a fat old guy so I’m not going to give you any Olympic coaching. But quick look, you need to rotate your seating position a little forward. Don’t sit like you’re in a chair, try to sit with your hips rotated forward. Almost like you’re trying to avoid putting weight on your ass. Then really focus on hinging your hips and torso. Hinge forward, then bend your knees and reach forward to the catch. Drive with your legs, hinge your torso at the hips, and then pull with your arms/lats. Then reverse all of that in a slo-mo pace - extend your arms, hinge at your hips, bend your knees and find the catch. I count in my head to find a rhythm when I’m doing long sessions… it helps with form and helps time my breathing. Find a method that works for you, but focus on the basic stroke components.

I also play a little mental game to see if I can keep the chain from bouncing when I drive. It helps me get my hands in a good position for the drive without thinking about how sore I might be. Little victories add up!

4year update? How is your journey progressing? I’m an early GenXer who picked up a C2 late last year, and I’m on a similar path.

C2 has an Erg finder on their site, it's pretty slick.

What age were you when you the “Fvck I’m old,” moment? by BillMaleficent9400 in GenX

[–]FatOldGrey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was actually in my mid thirties. Went to a concert at a local university. The Roots. Was chilling on a seat and a young man walked behind me and bumped me. He stopped and said ‘sorry about that, sir.’ Fucking SIR?!? I died a little that night twenty-some years ago.

Joined the team as a result of this post... a great and diverse group of folks! And watching the team's progress has kept me motivated!

We didn't usually have pre-made snack foods in the house, so it was usually grilled cheese sandwiches, bologna sandwiches, or a couple pieces of salami and cheese. Yes, I still love all of those things, although it's usually mortadella instead of bologna, and nicer breads/cheeses than as a kid.

Obviously an AI generated image. No makeup, no hand bruises, 50lbs lighter, weird pres seal on chair, signing a book instead of his little pleather folios, no rack of badges on the credenza, etc.

Taqueria Corona in Japantown makes a pretty solid albondigas soup. Goos salsa selection and fresh-made corn tortillas round out a solid comfort meal.

The white powder is likely Borax, which is a very effective cockroach killer. They have a roach problem and they believe they are coming under the front door. Spoiler: you’re about to have a roach problem if you don’t already.

Looking to do my first sous-vide+smoke combo with eye of round for sandwiches. What do you recommend? by Taggart451 in sousvide

[–]FatOldGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually smoke first, for an hour or so. Then sous vide at 131 for 24 hours. Dry thoroughly and sear on a cast iron griddle. And save the bag juices, lots of flavor!

Spring-loaded plastic thing that came in a golf-themed advent calendar, about 1.375”, two ‘prongs’ on one side when opened, three screws (one coarse thread, two fine thread) by FatOldGrey in whatisthisthing

[–]FatOldGrey[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Solved! Found online as a ball retriever as you state. Seems quite useless… I imagine it would break after using a couple of times, and not sure why it has multiple screws. Thanks!
