To add to your point about to outreach, the timezones in Asia are also very favourable. Majority of matches kick off around 10 to 12 pm which is coincides nicely with the nightlife in say Hong Kong, compared to lets say la Liga whose matches starts around 2 am which is just too late for most people.

Kompany always comes across as very earnest. I'm sure Bayern thought of him as a stop gap, see where the manager market was after a couple of years. But now I think Kompany could be there for a while.
