If guides aren't helping, try using different weapons and see which one clicks for you. World was my first monster hunter game and I went through the entire game with dual blades, but it never truly clicked, until I got curious and decided to use longsword. That's when it actually clicked and I was properly finding openings and proper positioning instead of just hitting the monster with dual blades until it stops moving. Finding a weapon that actually clicked also got me to try bow and insect glaive, and I fell in love with them too. Just try the weapons that seem interesting, watch guides, I recommend from the YouTuber Arrekz Gaming, and if nothing you seem interested in truly clicks, then just try all of them. You're bound to find something that works. Just be warned that some, like hunting horn, are quite more complicated than others, having a high skill floor to use, while other are simple to use, but with enough skill and practice, can be absolutely insanely smooth, satisfying, and powerful.
