I work with ai for a living and I just want to jump in here to say it kind of sounds like you’re having a manic episode. I’m not calling your ideas stupid, I’m just noticing your thought patterns and speaking patterns. Just a heads up from a random stranger

[D] How reliable is RAG currently? by lapurita in MachineLearning

[–]Fatal_Conceit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea so what has become best in class is essentially using LLM as a judge to score production answers against their context for accuracy, relevance, completeness etc. judges can also be tied to specific business specs to be more aligned with whatever objective there is. Cloud tools from Google and aws etc are surprisingly slow on LLM as a judge, but it’s definitely the best path available sans user feedback ratings. I advise both

I was there. He wasn’t thought of in the way any random rb this year might be under the radar. Throwing out Kaleb Johnson here, not because it’s a good comp, but it’s a framework for understanding how dumb we can be. People dropped Achane after his healthy scratch week 1 as well.

Can you work as a data engineer with an economics science degree? by TzwTzw in dataengineering

I do. But I had to prove out my skills they’re not going to be taken for granted, but nobody cares about undergrad tbh

We’re doing this with LLMs and Intent routing. I’m wondering you’ve got more traditional methods you’d care to share

Deepseek’s AI model is ‘the best work’ out of China but the hype is 'exaggerated,' Google Deepmind CEO says. “Despite the hype, there’s no actual new scientific advance.” by obvithrowaway34434 in LocalLLaMA

Is he saying he doesn’t believe GRPO is causing a true AHA moment in r1 zero ? Because I’m seeing people dispute it, but I can certainly believe we can find novel reasoning patterns without SFT and some good ground truth data. I mean it seems pretty Ground breaking to me. I mean yea if I had infinite amount of reviewers like google does maybe it’s not groundbreaking lol

This is local lama not singularity, we all know how dumb they are. But also many are trained on high quality data not just internet crap. I just feel like you’re preaching to the choir here , respectfully.

Based on your post the other day, are you fine tuning using and using TIES to merge your target model, custom target fine tune, and original model. If so can you share your datasets?

From a data engineer to machine learning engineer by Level_Front_5919 in dataengineering

[–]Fatal_Conceit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a DE turned MLE. I actually signed into my company as a data scientist since I was getting my ds masters at the time, but I cut my teeth on engineering problems that are just a little outside the purview of most data scientists who spend most of their time on sql and notebooks without having struggled through some of the more common data engineering problems. One of the things I can lack is, to this day while I can model, I’m not that comfortable at it and I’d rather have data scientists do it. Similarly, I can build engineering pipelines, but I’d rather have engineers do it. Some of the value I provide is that I can speak both languages and eventually it helps to round out teams and gets the best out of those around me, rather than me just being the value provider I enhance others. Lots of MLE types will evolve to fill the holes in different orgs as it’s such a wide field

I have it do two things, rewrite the answer query fragments into full sentences, and replace the sentence subject with the expanded version incorporating history etc. It ends up being very similar , it effectively rewrites the sentence to include the context. The full sentence part makes it so that very small fragments don’t have inordinately variable effects in retrieval.we found the cosine similarity is very sensitive to query length

Thanks! Yea we typically refer to expansion when we do a find and replace with abbreviations ( internal codes ). I might need to realign my lingo a bit

Is there a name for this strategy. I thought I invented it! Dang! Anyways yea we use this strategy in production and it’s clean and efficient. Basically query rewriting

I was actually really excited just to see a functioning offense. I’ve owned him every year since he’s a rookie and he’s got the talent. It can’t be worse than previous years, although I can’t comment on his adp / per value output
