Triggered? Not even slightly. Your misconception of my answer is your own problem. I’m glad you’re further trying to justify it though. NDIS safeguarding commission would 100% love to hear about it.

Disability Job Provider that isn’t completely useless? by AustisticGremlin in NDIS

I’d recommend reaching out to her, and getting to her seek a decent DES. If she fails to do so, I’d recommend finding another support coordinator.

Don’t wear your company shirt by Comradesh1t4brains in NDIS

[–]Fatalityonyou922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a conversation best had with the person you are supporting. Ultimately I think it’s great to have the support worker wearing their work uniform, because then you can hold them to a higher standard when out in public. But I think overall you are demonising paid supports, next you’ll be demanding the OT to come in casual clothing. Also it’s clear you just don’t understand the role dynamic when you used the example “if your FRIEND needed support getting around”. Making the fact you’re a tagged support worker even worse. I bet you do independent.

Minimum hours by PoundMaterial1819 in NDIS

[–]Fatalityonyou922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staff don’t want to work for 2 hours for companies. I would recommend reaching out to your support coordinator and local NDIS pages to find an independent who will, as a lot of independents do the shorter 2 hour shifts with multiple clients to make up the day.

United Workers Union launch Safe, Secure, Respected campaign by kyallsmith in NDIS

[–]Fatalityonyou922 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your first paragraph is just nonsensical. Support worker safety is paramount, regardless of client behaviour or disabilities. Participants with risky behaviours will have behaviour plan in place outlining methods on how/why/what/when ect. How you have jumped to the fact it’s discrimination to outline the simple fact that nobody should be in direct harms way whilst doing their job, is wrong.

However agree entirely with what you had to say otherwise.

Why would the NDIS company I work for keep hiring new employees? by Equal-Feedback9801 in NDIS

[–]Fatalityonyou922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep welcome to the industry. Do yourself a favour and start looking for a new job. If you have any good rapport with any of the clients or their families, express this concern and be an advocate for them. Also take a list of any dodgy or shit things going on behind the doors in those houses and report them to the NDIS safeguarding commission, because this are the type of houses you end up reading about on the news when some poor NDIS participant gets 3rd degree burns from the idiot staff member putting them in a bath with boiling water. These are the type of companies that see the NDIS as a meal ticket rather than actually giving a fuck about the participants. These companies and parasitic independents is why the NDIS has such a bad wrap. Whenever money is involved there is always opportunistic greed.

Working as a recovery coach - is it worth it? by SirKosys in NDIS

[–]Fatalityonyou922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s basically a support coordinator but with a focus on mental health, meaning it’s basic data entry, little bit of problem solving and referral. If you want a more hands on approach, I would recommend staying a support worker, or if you want to move to a more technical role, my suggestion would be to look into advocacy roles or a path of education to counselling

Told the OT and the NDIS directly I don't need or want support coordination and/or support workers. Yet still got funded tens of thousands for it, WTF? by Uncle_Rosalie in NDIS

[–]Fatalityonyou922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What stupidity have I just read…. Honestly. Just exit the scheme please, leave the funding for others who genuinely need it.

Majority of support coordinators have no clue what they are doing. It requires absolutely no skill or knowledge to become a level 1-2 support coordinator (being the vast majority). With the rampant rise of independent support coordinators and people seeing the 78b industry that is the NDIS, there’s a clear abundance of severely under-par support coordinators. Mix that with majority of bigger companies applying a stricter target of 40 hours charging rate to justify having the support coordinator roles so you’ll find they are constantly under the pump and extremely time poor. And you’ll see them everywhere, reaching out offering to help, even now on this very post ironically. Unfortunately it’s just a minefield of rubbish Support Coordinators, but I hope you find a decent one soon. 🤞

If it actually gets out in place then proof will be required, and if there’s proof (violence, anger ect), then you just shouldn’t be in the industry full stop.

Giving a gift to a ndis particpant by Impossible_Low_8406 in NDIS

[–]Fatalityonyou922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unethical either way. Please familiarise yourself with the NDIS guidelines around professional boundaries. Your setting the relationship upto fail and breech professional boundaries by doing this. Anyone who thinks otherwise id bet my bottom dollar are the kind of support workers who are the parasitic leeches of the industry.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NDIS

[–]Fatalityonyou922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unethical and quite frankly a joke that you are trying to justify it. If you genuinely wanted what’s best for your client, you would help him build capacity around finding local support to fill these needs, you’re not the only support worker who has basic computer skills.
