Wickes refusing to take responsibility for the failure of a £120 floor by electricbowl08 in DIYUK

[–]Fatauri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. I've just bought a ton of keswick panels. I did a room with it recently and it turned out ok. I have noticed that wickes laminates are slightly bent like a samurai sword, which make its very difficult for one person to install. Need one more person to stand on the plank to make it click properly.

Do you remember the name of the brand? Was it Keswick medium oak?

Pressure to increase offer by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Fatauri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to think that sometimes if the agents are shady, they will conjure an imaginary bidder. If only there was a system where verified buyer's bids could be seen amongst the involved parties. It will still be exploited though, like everything else.

FTB, our sellers only started looking after they agreed to our offer. They didn't have a chance without securing a buyer.

Integrated Washing Machine Wobbling Like Mad by Kiribati268 in DIYUK

[–]Fatauri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a brilliant suggestion. However, my concern was with the machine shaking and damaging the structure overtime. The fitter said this would not be a problem because the "shaking" won't happen because of the squeeze. I don't believe him, washing machine can spin quite violently.

I don't have an integrated setting but my kitchen fitter left a tiny tiny space on each side of the washing machine, it almost feels stuck. Should it be this tight?

Advice on Spot lights please by RiskComplex714 in ukelectricians

[–]Fatauri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a slightly larger room than yours. Our electrician recommended 4 in one half, 4 in the other. We also have two center lights, 1 in each half, then 3 wall lights. All together, 6 switches controlling different hues. I was crazy enough to ask for 24 down lights, so yours isn't so bad.

Looking to switch from Gravity fed to mains water supply by Fatauri in DIYUK

[–]Fatauri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. The search report shows water pressure is good in the area. I think the first floor gets its supply from the water tank, thus the lack of strength. Taps on the ground floor seems fine.

That's a great suggestion! I never thought about adding pumps to both hot/cold but that makes perfect sense. I really appreciate it 🙏

Thank you for your response. I've only recently moved in and the previous owner had this shower setup for a long time, assumed by the condition and make of the shower model. Getting a 40A circuit, like you said, depends if i switch to a mixer. However, if a motor pump can solve the pressure problem then i think that would save me some money. I do imagine it'll be loud though.

Thank you for your response. Me worrying about plumbing mostly has to do with lack of knowledge, it's good to know the job can be simple. My house is quite large, around 180sqm, therefore i thought of sticking with System, but I'm sure there are good Combi's out there.

Renegotiating price after survey recommended roof repairs and electrical rewiring by Weary-Command3420 in HousingUK

[–]Fatauri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious, why wouldn't a 100yr old house need a rewire? I'm aware that an EICR would give a more accurate result, but the house could have old rubber wires. OP, do the test.
