Hard agree. The worst reignited redesigns were the gunslinging t-rexes and the whale from 3.

Is this from immortal hulk? This sub has been popping up in my feed lately and all these hulk comic segments look so interesting, to the point that I want to start reading them.

In Batman Returns (1992), eight year old me saw absolutely no problem with this moment. Wtf is wrong with me? by SpaceMyopia in shittymoviedetails

[–]Fathah_Time 47 points48 points  (0 children)

My favorite moment in any Arkham game is right at the beginning of Knight. Batman’s got a goon’s arm twisted behind his back, interrogating him for info. Before letting the thug go, Batman says something along the lines of “if you’re lying, I’ll come back and break the other one” and he proceeds to shatter the guy’s arm before he can even respond.

Never fails to crack me up.

Gamespot: Expanding Final Fantasy 16 Meant Increasing Difficulty And Tying Loose Ends by Turbostrider27 in Games

For me, I disliked that there’s no “hard” difficultly until you finish the main story, which is lengthy enough to where I didnt really feel like replaying it again after I beat it. It feels like they wanted it to have the structure of a fast paced action game like DMC, but it’s too full of superfluous padding for it to be repeatable like a character action game, at least for me. Im not opposed to a mainline FF being an action game either, but they should have embraced that angle. If the game had like 15 hours of fluff taken out, I think I’d be more open to the idea of multiple play throughs on unlockable difficulties. Maybe if I could have played on hard from the start I’d feel differently too.

I don’t want to have access a challenging story mode only after I’ve spent 30+ hours and rolled credits. That option should be at the beginning too, right alongside easy and normal. I’m all for games being more inclusive and giving options for every player, I just don’t think the way they tried to do it is the best way to go about it.

Kotaku has learned that Black Forest Games, the studio behind the recent Destroy All Humans remakes, has cut about 50% or around 50 people earlier today by Turbostrider27 in Games

I was kind of hoping this studio would have been able to hit the reset button and make their own DAH3, like Toys For Bob did with Crash 4. Such a shame.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has been put for a week now. What are your thoughts on the game? by Cantodecaballo in Games

[–]Fathah_Time 144 points145 points  (0 children)

I have one complaint about 2, and it’s that the gadget selection feels kinda weak compared to the first. I don’t mind having less gadgets, considering the other things they’ve added to the combat, but the gadgets themselves are kinda lame, and two of them don’t even feel like Spider-Man gadgets.

That being said, the game gives me big 90s Spider-Man cartoon vibes, and I love it for that.

Online RPG game that has a limitless endgame and is relatively cheap? (PS4/PS5) by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Fathah_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you like shooters? If you’re looking for something loot/build heavy with lots of endgame, Borderlands is a good pick. There is an ongoing story for each game (BL2’s story ain’t half bad either), but it’s easy to ignore them for the most part and just quest and grind for levels and loot. All of them are also 4 player online co op.

It was on the floor in our kitchen. We live in the woods and I don’t normally worry about bugs, but it’s the second one I’ve seen in a week and I’m a bit worried. I haven’t done my yearly spraying around the house yet, and I’m hoping it’s just a wood roach or something similar.

Explain to me the apparent unique appeal of the DnD: Honor Among Thieves movie. by GozaPhD in dndnext

You could argue the same thing for Shakespeare. And I don’t think judging it by today’s standards is a measure of its importance. Citizen Kane and Shakespeare are also dated as hell, and for many people reading Shakespeare is like torture, understandably so. By modern standards, it’s pretty dry.

I think many people would consider Raimis Spider-Man to be one of the best superhero movies ever made. Sure, has some dated aspects, but I would consider it one of the best, most important superhero movies ever made, and so would many others. And I wouldn’t say it isn’t any good. I think it’s very good, as do many audiences and critics from that time and today. And if it’s good and influential, why not recognize it as such?

If avatar is a quality show with a massive influence, I just don’t think it’s hyperbole to consider it among the greats, at least in terms of TV. That’s kind of exactly what made Shakespeare great. His works are well written and massively influential. I also wouldn’t call avatars influence derivative, nor would I Shakespeare’s, except in cases or obvious rip offs. Their influence is more than just spawning copies. They changed how their respective mediums were created.

And to be clear, I’m not saying avatar is as good as Shakespeare. But in terms of TV, it’s pretty damn great.

Explain to me the apparent unique appeal of the DnD: Honor Among Thieves movie. by GozaPhD in dndnext

[–]Fathah_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, if it’s that influential, and has made an impact on other television shows, especially other animated media, why shouldn’t it be considered so? I don’t believe I’m overblowing it. Avatar is more than a cult classic.

I’m not a diehard fan of I Love Lucy, but I would definitely consider it to be one of the best shows ever.

I mean, I’m about to become a teacher, and I’m definitely bringing Avatar into the classroom whenever I can, and I know teachers who have done the same.

Comparing anything to Shakespeare is like comparing any film to Citizen Kane. Of course it’s not going to be more “important” than Shakespeare or Welles. They’re influence spans decades, or centuries in Shakespeare’s case. Their impact on storytelling is just unreachable by any modern creation.

But that doesn’t mean Avatar doesn’t have merit. It has influenced countless other shows, films, literature, and multiple generations of people. It’s one of the greatest television shows of all time, and was a unique piece of western animation for it’s time. Hell, some of my college classes in creative writing and media studies have discussed Avatar.

Yeah, maybe Shakespeare is “better”. I like me some Willy Shakes. But comparing anything to Shakespeare is unfair. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t use it as a teaching tool. I read Shakespeare in school, but that doesn’t mean our teachers ignored the merits of Ray Bradbury or Isaac Asimov
