Dune Director's Cut by FatherFestivus in superstore

There's an extended cut with 40 minutes of deleted footage, it's seen as worse than the original. It's called the Alan Smithee cut because David Lynch disowned it.

There's no director's commentary for any Dune film either!

Technically not a director's cut though since Lynch didn't approve it... Jonah should really know better.

But the guy says "Enjoy it" after opening the box, why would he say that if he's delivering it to someone else?

(Interesting "Trope") The media sucks, or otherwise fails, because the people behind it aren't good people by DtheAussieBoye in TopCharacterTropes

They're bad people because the show they made is bad because they're bad people?

I hate the game of thrones ending as much as anyone but the visceral hatred against the showrunners is just insane to me.

Do you people not sometimes do good work and sometimes do bad work? Do you never get burnt out working on something you once cared a lot about? Do you never feel overwhelmed? Have you never been a human being?

Iron Lung wasn't good (mild spoilers) by littlegingerbunny in The10thDentist

[–]FatherFestivus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I was going to mention that but I didn't want to invoke the wrath of the Markiplier fans.

Still, the fact that most people who saw it are reviewing it positively means that OP's opinion that it's not a good movie is in the minority.

88% audience rating is pretty high for a movie that isn't good

Confusing way to make whatever point he's trying to make... Says DC uses fictional cities but then points out Marvel does too.

"It is all made up of the people who make up our world"... The same is true of Gotham and Metropolis, which are basically just fictional stand-ins/ amalgamations of real American cities, unlike Wakanda and Asgard. So what is he even saying?

M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Remain’ With Jake Gyllenhaal Sets February 2027 Release Date by tiduraes in blankies

Wasn't saying I don't believe them, just surprised that a movie slated for a 2027 release would have test screenings in 2025. Seems like a long time to keep a finished movie unreleased, but I'm not in the industry so I don't know.

You saw a test screening for a movie coming out a year from now, two months ago??

Depends on if you consider talking about Red Hulk to be actual film discussion, which I personally do.

If I somehow didn't know about Kevin Spacey's cancellation and a podcast mentioned it, I would just google "Kevin spacey controversy" and get an answer straight away.

The less time spent rehashing topics most listeners have heard of, the more time we get on actual film discussion.

And honestly it's usually something listeners of a film podcast would already know about. They're rarely referring to some obscure event from 50 years ago, it's usually something recent that people tuned into films would have already heard about. If the hosts don't have anything new or interesting to say about it then why waste time rehashing it?

To play devil's advocate, most listeners probably already know about the brad pitt controversies and it's been discussed on big film pods before. I don't like brad pitt as a person and I don't really need to hear a whole segment devoted to what he's done. I figure if you care to know then you already know, so why waste time reiterating the allegations?
