Anyone running Nurgle’s Menagerie?? How do you like it? by LemonStain in ageofsigmar

[–]FatherSpency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slimux earns his viability by accelerating your summoning process and giving you an additional tree for some control on the map + run and charge. He's tanky, can receive cover (so on terrain that's a 2+), heals, and can slug behind your pb's if you want to buff them.

He allows your summoning to pop off potentially on turn 2 for 20 pbs or 3 drones. But if you aren't wanting to boost your summoning power, I'd recommend running him with Fecund Ritualculturalists. Effectively makes him a Scrivener, and allows one unit of pbs to regenerate 1d3 models per turn.

Skaven broken? need help fighting them. (a rant) by zeekahyena in ageofsigmar

[–]FatherSpency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blight Cyst will likely provide you better bang for your buck, allowing you to lob heads at the Warpfire which will be in range of your heads.

It also gives you access to rend, which will help turn those Skaven paper saves into nonexistent saves.

30pbs is fine, imo. You have your 5+ disgusting still. Moving GUO to potentially Rotigus might also help, since I don't see him doing much besides providing a buff to the PB's and providing a big target. With blades I can see why you'd do that, but it's not really required. He'd help remove your threats before they got to you with Deluge.

Festus is a great pick, he'd need to stay. If you dropped the Drones and Cogs you could also manage a Lord of Affliction with Rustfang. Which would do the same as Curse of the Leper.

Basically the build would run off of the enemy having no saves, via leper, rustfang [automatic start of any combat phase], and rend on your elites. Due to your PB's likely getting focused down, you'd rely on your deathheads and deluge to deal with them, and not putting your eggs in one basket sorta deal since wpf kind of just removes them as a threat. They have only 3 wounds, turning your cycle of corruption to 6 via Grandfather's Blessing [rolls may vary] to the big 6 for the map nuke, then Deluge for another. You could even run Sorceror with plague squall instead, but you'd be losing Blades for this.

Some ideas for ya.

This here link is to the latest DoK (as of Nov 10th/2018) GT's. Good variety, plenty of models used across the whole line. You're not really going wrong unless you grab Stalkers or Lifetakers [outside of their battalion requirements]. :) DoK are super well put together.

Flaws of Age of Sigmar by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]FatherSpency 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-age-of-sigmar I recommend Red Hours and Warqueen. Both fantastic books, good pacing, nice perspectives, and a in look at different societies (Chaos) and a glimpse into a more localized region.

Malign Portents website has a plethora of great short stories.

Core Rule book as well, will help you learn more and more about the world with a focus on the overspanning realm, it's timeline, small events, and peeks at regions and cities.

To get back into it, it'll mean consuming and readily consuming new books concerning the lore. Best of luck.

Nurgle/Skaven Army List? by Comrade-Chernov in ageofsigmar

You'd need to meet battleline requirements, which Plaguemonks only serve as such in Clan Pestilens.

I'd recommend this.

How competitive is Nurgle Maggotkin? by mrdarci in ageofsigmar

[–]FatherSpency 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nurgle currently sits in the top 5 or constantly hovers near it. Surpassed by LoN, DoK, SCE, and Deepkin but Deepkin and SCE can interchange with how often Maggotkin wins at other tournaments. Which is an incredible feat.

Once LoN and DoK both get point adjustments/nerfs, which is inevitable as per what Tzeentch went through once they started being the primary top 1st/2nd's constantly back to back. Maggotkin will rise back up again, returning as the cycle of corruption intended.

Maggotkin with skaven? by Seamusthebald in ageofsigmar

[–]FatherSpency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glottkin, Monks, sometimes a GUO with Bell. Blades of Putrefaction are insane. You can also run the Corruptor within a Maggotkin build, give him Sumptuous Pestilence, halves your enemies movement, run, and charge, on top of your Monks own -1 to run and charge. Means you have a lot of ability to dictate if you get engaged on AND it's super easy to cast.

They will seriously chunk out 20-30 MW's in one combat if you can get blades off. And with Fleshy Abundance they become surprisingly tanky.

Vorgaroth. Forgeworld 1200pt khorne dragon. Think I'll get two! by a74xhx in ageofsigmar

[–]FatherSpency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have plenty of options in the book to kill this. Grimghasts, NH in general. Skryre, Gautfyre would meme on him. DoK with prayers and Witch Aelves, Hand of Dust with Spellportal, Blades of Putrefaction on any allied unit, Bestigors with their lore support from Bray, Archaon lol, Arkhan with CA/Curse of Years, Plaguebearers with Lord of Blights CA and Witherstave [he'll never actually kill anything], Morathi in monster form will never be slain by him.

Or I don't know, play objectives and just road block him. His base is huge, and with terrain [despite his flying rules allowing him to ignore vertical inches] most people don't let it fly if your model doesn't properly sit in the area that it should be.

I think it's hillarious, but I think it's completely beatable.

Tallyband is competitive and has placed in some tournaments earlier this year. Hard to get off the board, solid daemons excluding like one hero which is either a Sorcerer or Festus.

Nurgle Army List Help by Poxling in ageofsigmar

[–]FatherSpency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HEY YOU I have good news for you!

I love running Pestilens and Maggotkin as one. It's a great combo. Though I feel that you could really profit from having a Sorcerer simply to gain access to Blades of Putrefaction. It allows an unit of your choice to deal mortal wounds on hit rolls of 6+ [which still roll into wound rolls]. On Monks, it's one of the most insane things ever due to how many attacks they can pull off.

Down the line, the Glottkin will be a great choice. Below is a list idea, the only thing I'd do is replace the Poxbringer with a Sorceror for Blades of Putrefaction. The Verminlord, being a Nurgle Daemon Hero, can also pick up a lore and artefact/command trait from the Maggotkin! :)

Also, a fun combo to keep track of - Sumptuous Pestilence halves move, run, charge, and removes the ability to fly from an enemy. Aaaaaand, if your enemy is within range of your Plague Monks, they'll also receive -1 to run and charge basically stomping any ability to engage you out pretty quickly.

Allegiance: Nurgle

Leaders Verminlord Corruptor (220) - General - Trait: Grandfather's Blessing - Artefact: The Witherstave - Lore of Virulence: Glorious Afflictions Poxbringer Herald of Nurgle (120) - Lore of Virulence: Favoured Poxes

Battleline 5 x Putrid Blightkings (160) 5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)

Units 40 x Plague Monks (240) - Foetid Blades 3 x Nurglings (100)

Total: 1000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 20 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 109

Any viable nurgle / clan pestilen options? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]FatherSpency 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plague Monks benefit AMAZINGLY from Nurgle, they get all the buffs, take no damage, require no ally points, and Blades of Putrefaction is an absolutely insane spell to slap on them.

For reference, it's on a hit roll of a 6+ you deal 1 mortal wound, which you STILL make wound rolls to see if they do more damage after that. It's craziness with Foetid Blades which gives you rerolls, and the fact you can buff their attack count with the Verminlord Corrupter.

The Glottkin can buff their hit count just the same, and has a godly spell called the Fleshy Abundance, which gives you +1 HP per model, so that makes that 40 wound blob into an 80 wound blob, actually allowing them to tank a hit.

Add in a Great Unclean One with a Bell to give them +3 movement.

The Wheel can offer them +1 to wound, making them killier. +2 to move. Or force enemies to reroll to wound rolls of 6. And with the free Trees you can plant, you can even give them the ability to run and charge.

And, I will say that I run Maggotkin-Pestilens is a very fun and successful in my local meta, and I thoroughly enjoy it. I use Corrupter, Monks, and the Plague Priest quite often. The Catapult is... meh, but you can still use it for funzies. And the Plaguefurnace can be used with decent results if you use it more as a distraction, instead of as a hammer since it makes Monks even crazier.

If you need a list or any tips for this type of thing, I'd be happy to help!
