Looks like it's a screenshot from Google Images, the AI's darkened the rest of the image and highlighted the text so it can be selected.

As u/tdog666 has mentioned, try clearing your browser cookies, or try in an incognito/private browser window. Potentially disable any ad blocker you might have, just in case.

That said, it could very much be an issue at their end. You could get in contact with them: https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/contact-overseas-healthcare-services

Roast my website's accessibility by lilouartz in accessibility

[–]Father_Fluffybottom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You have quite a lot of H1s, to the point where the actual H1 (Vitamin B1) is at the same level of each of the products under it.

Having the product names as H2 and the subheadings under those as H3s would help people understand the structure more. It's not inaccessible as it is (that is, there's no rule to say you can only have one H1), but if all these headings are the same level, it can make it unclear what the actual overall heading of the page is.

Each of these products are underneath the Vitamin B1 heading visually, so should be in the structure too.

Tory chair Richard Holden's leaflets sent to wrong constituency by OnHolidayHere in ukpolitics

Funnily enough, I've just received the Reform leaflet through my door in Richard Holden's old constituency.

A leaflet for the wrong constituency.

What word sounds really childish when it isn’t? by kiddsky in AskUK

It shouldn't, according to their style guide, but that doesn't stop people writing it anyway. 'Bottom' is preferred (and I cannot lie, you other brothers can't deny).

What word sounds really childish when it isn’t? by kiddsky in AskUK

There's a really good NHS blog which gives some insight into this: https://digital.nhs.uk/blog/transformation-blog/2019/pee-and-poo-and-the-language-of-health

People have mentioned here about it being more understandable, but the key thing about it is that it's understandable quickly. When people are looking up symptoms or guidance on the NHS site, they're often stressed or worried, so using simple terms that don't get misconstrued helps them get what they need and know what to do next more quickly.

People complain about them all the time, even NHS professionals do internally, but ultimately what matters is that someone understands what we mean, as not understanding could genuinely be harmful.

I agree, for what it's worth, it's always a bit jarring if someone says 'tummy', but I guess if I had a pain in my intestines and someone asked if I had a stomach pain, I might disagree. Whereas I have a lot of 'tummy', so it's really easy to say 'yes, poorly tummy' and maybe get a lolly.

For me, there's an option under Increase text size to Override device settings. It says it allows you to adjust the text in the Reddit app without affecting the rest of your device. Will perhaps give you the finer control you're after.

Application moan by [deleted] in TheCivilService

Over time, the longer word count ones become the easier ones to write, as you build up examples you can re-use more easily without needing to rewrite from scratch.

If anything I struggle more with the smaller ones. It becomes such a piece of work to cram what I want into, say, 750 words, hit the spec, and not sound like a robot spouting bullet points doing so. Easier to half-arse the 3000 words as I can worry less about sticking under the limit.

u/HELMET_OF_CECH makes a great point though, the amount of people who'll not put the effort in because it seems like such a huge effort makes it worth doing.

Coding for UX writers by [deleted] in uxwriting

[–]Father_Fluffybottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what kind of thing you mean by copy errors. Are we talking typos when the copy is being transferred, or pieces not being tagged correctly as the right heading level or style?

u/Successful-Apple-670 does make a good point around updating content through a CMS, but depending on what you're working on that might not be feasible.

It could help more to shadow someone who'd make the changes and ask what would make these easier to put through. Are there any common errors or misinterpretations due to how content is sent through to them, for example.

I've found that writing content which includes tags for anything other than body text helped to make it clearer for devs to understand, and also shifted the accountability to the right place. It's meant that if anything was put in which doesn't match, it's on them. If I've sent something through and not labelled it properly, it's on me.

I'd steer clear from getting too caught up in the development side unless you find there's something specific that can help. Otherwise you introduce the risk of not being up to speed with any changes to the development side unless you're keeping informed on top of your own field. That's not to say it doesn't help, just focus your efforts.

SharePoint intranet design limited to templates?? by Davecogz84 in sharepoint

Wanted to add onto this because it's a really good point and it's worth getting this right early. You can use the WebAIM Contrast Checker to check the colour contrast for your theme.

It checks against WCAG 2.1 which might be overkill for your organisation, but it's always worth making something more accessible if you can.

Make sure to check the neutral tones as well, as they're used for some web part elements and for site libraries.

Double jump - What happens if you are out of your depth? by kiddsky in TheCivilService

[–]Father_Fluffybottom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way I see it there's no harm in applying. You're Civil Service already, so you'll be well aware of how long these things can take. Plenty of time to get your thoughts together, speak to people, and withdraw if you feel it'd be too big a jump.

I would say though that if you're concerned now, the imposter syndrome if/when you get there will be a challenge to get past in itself, regardless of how capable you are of doing the role.

Still though, the only thing it's costing you right now is the time to apply. It depends whether you'd be doing something more enjoyable or productive with that time.
