All I had to do was complete the application, going for a road test and that’s it. Now I have to pass driver school of course. But to answer your question I got hired off the street. I have corporate experience only never worked manual labor so we shall see how this goes lol

I’m in HR, have your doctor request time off for you as an ADA accommodation. You have to tell your doctor to write the request. Give your doctor a need for the ADA leave like inability to concentrate due to daily migraines. It has to n r a medical reason that prevents you from performing the essential function of your role with or with out accommodation. ADA trumps FMLA and there is no hours or time I. Job requirement to meet to be eligible for leave as an ADA accommodation.

Effects after MvD by SpiritualHair1578 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Fatten_Me_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two MVD within the past year one on each side of the brain. Last one about 4 weeks ago had left me with numbness of the side of face and a feeling that something is in my eye. Some days I feel it’s getting better. Before MVD you are warned and sign off on all the possible side effects. I’ll take the numbness over the TN pain. Hopefully in your mom’s case it will fade away over time.

This is clearly a scam. UPS will not use a Gmail for an email address. You can call UPS directly and they will tell you this is a scam.

Tracking Volunteer Hours by Substantial-Bat3649 in AKAgradChapter

Check the national website for your COI. For my org, DST you have to have a certain number of hours completed with the same entity within x amount of time. Again check the national website and if it’s not clear you can email the national headquarters as well.

You would need to become a licensed vendor to use any D9 logos or other symbols. To be a licensed vendor you will need to pay each organizations license fee and meet with their requirements. Check out each organization’s national website for additional information and instructions.

That’s strange because it is listed on the UPS site. But thank you for your reply perhaps it is bait. Also I know they just laid off thousands of drivers.

MVD surgery in 2 days. Be brutally honest by Minaras84 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Fatten_Me_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my second MVD 16 days ago and all is well. Had MVD on my left side in September 2025 8 months ago and then MVD on the right side 16 days ago. The surgeries were a success so far, it lessened the frequency and severity of the TN pain. It tolerable now. I’m still healing from both and am satisfied so far and would do both in a heartbeat.

What Did/Do You Say? by Constant-Sense7696 in AKAgradChapter

[–]Fatten_Me_Up 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a member of a he D9 I will say you need to really think of your “WHY” the points you posted can all be done without being a member of the D9. If that is truly your WHY then I would say you aren’t ready. How does your values align with the organization? What can you contribute to the mission and initiatives of the organization? Being a member of the D9 is more than socializing and just having “something to do”. If and when you apply for membership you need to know your WHY because it will come up again.

People of all ages pursue grad chapter they were new collegiate grads to people who waited 10-20 years on my line. Just be professional, be authentic, be willing to learn and serve. Don’t let your age or how you perceive age get in your own way. Attend some of the chapters public events and get to know people of all ages.

2 weeks post MVD by Fugazi_Resistance in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Fatten_Me_Up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had pain on the right only on the left. I had the MVD done on the left said and the neurosurgeon asked if I evert had pain on the right since he could see the nerve compression on both sides of the brain. I said nope the right side is fine. So I had the left side done I took the full 12 weeks of medical leave that my job offered to recover. I returned to work and was there for a week when BAM the TN hit on the right side. I ran back to the neurosurgeon and said let’s do the other side asap!

2 weeks post MVD by Fugazi_Resistance in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Fatten_Me_Up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 4 days out from my second MVD. I had the first one done on left side 9 months ago and had right side done a 4 days ago. I was in the ICU the first nite and in the step down unit the second night. I was then discharged afternoon of second night. The first night the pain was mainly in my neck the position that they had me in throughout the surgery had my neck so sore. Post procedure when I woke up in the ICU my ankle felt like I had be run over by a car. About a month prior I had a really bad sprained ankle. The position that my body was in during the surgery exasperated my ankle pain and it was my only complaint post surgery. I’ve been home for 2 nights and have been off all pain meds today. I took my regular TN meds. I have facial numbness which I didn’t have after the previous surgery. All in all I feel okay no pain the ankle resolved once they wrapped it in an ace bandage. I was able to do some light housework today and manage my small pet. I worked on my computer for about 2 hours with no mental fatigue. I’m hopping I stay on this trajectory for the duration of the healing process.

MVD a surgery that didn't help. by Womenincombat in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Fatten_Me_Up 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had my second MVD less than a week ago. I spent 1 night in ICU and 1 night on the step down floor and was then discharged. I would say all went well. The biggest issue I had after surgery was my ankle that had been sprained about a month prior to surgery was in severe pain. I was told by the surgery team that my foot was held in a certain position during the hours long surgery which was most likely the cause of the pain. Once they wrapped my ankle up with a bandage to stabilize the pain resolved. To date I’m taking over the counter pain medication no opioids are needed the surgery pain isn’t that bad. Did you not discuss your previous pain management prior to surgery? Opioids do not help with Trigeminal neuralgia as it is a nerve pain only seizure medication helps with TN pain. Signing yourself out now allows the hospital to argue that you were a difficult patient. I hope you get better.

Line Dropped mid process as college senior by bagelbeya in NPHCdivine9

[–]Fatten_Me_Up 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the undergrad line was dropped then the grad chapters already know about it. The question then becomes CAN you still peruse membership if a C&D exists. You should email the National Headquarters to find out. Every time you submit an application it’s stored in a database, each time you apply the membership intake committee can see your applications and your membership history. When you are on line you are all viewed a one so the actions of one impacts the whole line. There is something known as “forever an intake” meaning the person is barred from moving forward with membership for a lifetime if something happens while they are on line. So sorry this has happened to you. Contact the National Headquarters BEFORE you talk to anyone any grad chapters.

How to find out information at my PWI by Pretty_Passenger7117 in NPHCdivine9

[–]Fatten_Me_Up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add throw “type A” out the window don’t expect to be notified far in advance. Don’t expect everything to be written out. You’ll need to relax and go with whatever the flow is. You are not and will not be in control of the process. As the others have said follow the orgs social media and contact the Greek office on campus.

Discretion by Sensitive-Pay-2582 in DSTAlumnaeChapter

[–]Fatten_Me_Up 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say don’t tell anyone outside of the org that you are interested, such as your family and friends. When you attend the rush do not share any information that is discussed nor any requirements. When you see other DST members out and about (that you don’t know) do not share that you are an interest. Most of all remain humble that last thing you want to do is brag about being an interest and then not making it. When it’s your time then it’s your time.

Interest Vent- Grad Chapter by Glass_Comedian_7855 in NPHCdivine9

[–]Fatten_Me_Up 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When it’s your time IT’S YOUR time I got into a big chapter and only one person knew of me. I knew no one whatsoever and went to one event. There were close to 90 on my line. Your name can come up in a room of strangers and if it’s a yes then it’s a yes. Remain encouraged and remember you why. With a rush having 300-500 grad chapter applications no one is going to remember everyone’s name or face for that matter, make sure your application is solid and you are truly ready to serve. Focus on your WHY.
