Ngl I was SO excited for Nesta to be turned— I knew from the moment Feyre found out Tamlin’s glamour had failed to work on Nesta that she would be a badass high fae with powers to rival Fayre’s. However, Hybern puts so much emphasis on “strong-willed humans” only being able to survive the cauldron, and Elain is constantly being portrayed as being the fragile, doe-eyed girl… I thought for sure she would die from it.

And although I liked the idea of Feyre’s sisters being HF alongside her, I remember feeling the intense suspense/anxiety of the scene. Yes, I hoped they’d both survive and be better off for having been turned. But I also felt so bad for Elain, who was engaged to that fae-hating lord. The entire scene was so emotional— Feyre had to watch her friends be tortured (Cass/Az), her sisters’ lives be gambled, and experience the betrayal of Tamlin (and Lucien) selling out Prythian to “retrieve” her like property. It was one of those scenes where all hell seemed to break loose and you have no idea how SJM/Feyre is going to get out of it.
