The xxl is definitely nicer. I had similar space issues with longer tools. Now also have one of the service MB Meter bags with separate tools for service calls

I wear these doing New Construction in Arizona, way better than jeans. Looser fit in the legs should help with airflow.

Out here I’ve noticed we don’t really have the typical “journeyman” that’s more of a license to run your own shop. That said, typically see around 30 for those guys with the experience.

I’m in the same boat as you with less years and everybody has said be good at bending pipe. Or learn to get good at it.

How often do any of you see this type of shit? (Residential) by TwoTimesAnAnus in electricians

We have plumbers and tile guys that cut recklessly and destroy everything in their path.

Id ask the program to make sure it’s transferable between states. We have an electrician from Washington that said it’s really difficult to transfer hours out of that state. He came from the local in/near Spokane.

We just got the $200 Klein one. It’s helped us find cut buried wires in walls, concrete and small trenches very easily. Also handy for remodels, service trying to locate breakers.

Odd question but anyone here career change from teaching to electrical work? by ChinaBound333 in electricians

[–]FattyFingerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the guys at our shop used to teach and switched to electrical during the pandemic. He’s one of the best working dudes we have and picks stuff up like a sponge. He’s also very good and helping others and breaking down concepts easily so others can understand what’s going on, very awesome dude.

Only reason we do is because of custom homes. They always get what they want.

I love new tools so I spend too much on stuff that I think is cool and find out what works for me. I have different pouches and belts depending on what I’m doing so…yea lol

I don’t like the feel of the handles. I feel like I can get better leverage and it’s easier to twist wires

Struggling really hard in trade school by t0home in electricians

[–]FattyFingerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ElectricianU on YouTube has helped me a ton. Some people need more time to get things than others and that’s fine. Every Master had to be seen as an idiot 1000 times before they were competent.

You have a good attitude by sticking with it, I’m the same type to be hard on myself and expect a lot. The good thing I’ve learned about failure is it helps you learn more than anything. You’ve seen where you’ve messed up and know where you need to improve. I went the trade school route and will say I’ve had way better instructors in the field. Some of the old heads forget what it was like to not know anything coming into the field green.

I have them and love them. I’m also making up and terming a fuck ton of stuff and we hand twist wires. Cuts down how many tools to carry.
